on my pc from the authentic m.soft disc
my computer was at a point of no return
through installing and uninstalling
free software and visiting (dodgy)games/music
and naughty lady sites(educational purposes only)
i downloaded avg free trial for 1
month before re-installing xp
i re visited and re-installed avg
thinking that it would start from where i left off
about 2 weeks into the 1 month trial (malware edition)
but i got a fresh install or trial
1month from that date
was that supposed to happen or did i get lucky.

i re-installed avg after re-installing windows.

this avg is not the free edition
it is anti-malware 1month trial
full version edition ,i think it reduces
to non-automatic updates and it doesnt
no longer monitor live internet or mail
connections after its 1mnth licence
expires.

Most Free Trial s/w keeps track of when they are first installed by writing secret date codes to the HD:.

If you uninstall, the date codes are left behind - so uninstalling does not get you any more free trial.

But you re-format the HD:, you wipe out the date codes.

So when you install the s/w again, it has a look on the HD:, can't find any trace of the previous install date codes and so it allows you a new 1 month free trial.

This does not happen with every software ... If a program is coded to edit your windows registry files it wouldn't happen but still there are some ways to hack the program of the registry files ... anyway
about the Stormy's answer I wouldn't recommend you to visit that kind of sites unless you have a very very strong anti virus anti spy .. or an up to date Norton system work

nope you weren't lucky because by formatting beofre installing windows you removed all trace of having avg in the first place from the registry. if you were to just remvoe avg and reinstall it won't give you another 30 days believe i tried it. just go to www.serials.to and in the search enter avg doubble click any thing that comes up about avg and you will get full serial
