If we have an eternal life after death then our mortal life is like one grain of sand amongst all the grains of sand in the world.

If that is the case, why have mortal life at all?

To those who think it's a test or a learning experience, isn't that like your first day of pre-school determining whether or not you get a doctorate from Stanford?

To those who think it's tied into free will, are you saying your soul, once divorced from your body, no longer has free will?

It gives the Christians time to tell us we will all go to hell. Perverse isn't it?

You make a good point I've heard many people talk about this before to me. I personally think that maybe there is life after death and that we live another life were pain and everything bad does not exist. But still i don't think there is life after death that we just die and stay dead. Lets say that there is life after death and we have no mortal life were we have a life of happiness and no bad things live there we'll we will not have wisdom on how the world and life really is. We wont have a meaning to our life were in our mortal life we learn about the good and bad things in this mysterious world we gain knowledge which shows us what life is all about and become independent and strong people. From all our actions and to me pain and sadness can sometimes make you a stronger person which can later help you or others. When you are old and have learned so much and have wisdom of so many things that when you die and supposedly go to this other eternal life you take with you all your wisdom to share with other in the great beyond. Then maybe there you'll learn more things like the mysteries of earth the unanswered question. this is what i think I'm sorry if its an answer or not but its a good question you have. even if we individually are one grain of sand then be a grain of sand that wakes up everyday lives his/her life to the fullest and never regret what you do in your years of life. To become a unique person because you'll never know what lies on the other side of the light in that dark tunnel.

If we had no mortal life we would never experience the dark side. We would never face pain or fear. We would never experience heart break or grief. We would never see suffering or watch others suffer. We would never have a chance to overcome these things. There is no after life. You have it backwards. The other side is our true life. You are here in this mortal life so you can prove yourself and overcome things which are bothering you. Not only to God our whatever you may call our creator. But to yourself.Yes you are here to better yourself your own soul so yes I guess it is to learn. You shall go on learning for eternity so get used to it.

God is a loving god, thus why he does not force us to love him. He wants his creation - humans - to come to him out of their own choice and free will. This is the reason that Adam and Eve sinned - they had free will, God didn't backhand Eve when she wanted to eat the apple.

Ask yourself this: If we were in Heaven, or an afterlife, we would know nothing but God. That is also the reason why Satan is allowed to have an impact. There has to be something else for us to choose, or we are just dumbed down to a mind of a 5 year old who doesn't know any better.
I hope this helps.

I never really thought about that. It's a great question though. What's the point? Why not just live in the kindgom of Heaven with God forever? I'm agnostic, so I don't really buy into the eternal life thing, but it is still an excellent line of inquiry.

Hmm. You demons really think are going to this eternal life, if Christ was here, he'd be some kind of demons to you all cause he's the Son of God. You wicked were given life cause we sinned and the worst fears of the holy ones stays on you to death.

I would presently liken it to a display of what we do with alittle (mortal life); before we are given a lot (spiritual life)!

This could be better answered by knowing if you have a fundamental belief in God as creator of mankind. An answer from that foundation might make sense, but without knowing your belief system, a protracted answer might have no meaning for you.

Because you have chosen to, in order to experience things, situations and emotions that you would otherwise be unable to experience in the perfect bliss of the otherside.

Creation of a perfect being from a free choice sinful creature. We are perfected by our choice through a perfect God and by his mercy. had God chosen he could have created a perfect creature instant robot or demi-god. It was by God's choice that we are given free will to come to him and worship him according to our free will...We can not know all about a infinite and perfect God we are finite and sinful and much of what we know is limited by our limitations we are by faith able to come to him and receive some understanding.

God knows each one of us itimately and we are unique in His eyes,He made us to know and love Him so that we may share in His own eternal joy, if you do not grasp this truth then yes you will always feel like another brick in the wall.
