It sounds like you have bipolar disorder. This is a chemical imbalance that causes bouts of depression and mania. You need to find a different doctor, one who actually cares and can diagnose you properly and give you medication. You need to go to a psychiatrist rather than a psycologist. They can prescribe meds. There are lots of different medications and you can find the right one for you. It sounds like you are also suffering from social anxiety/phobia. Paxil, which also helps with depression, is one of the best medications for that. You should also go into therapy along with taking your medication. But the medication will at least make you feel OK enough to be able to function and commit to therapy for the long haul. Please don't give up; you just need to find the right doctor, get on the right meds and you'll be on the right path. There is help out there; please seek it. I have suffered from social anxiety and depression and can tell you that you will get better in time. But please find a doctor TODAY. There is no reason for you to suffer when there is all this great medication and treatment options available. I wish you the best of luck. God bless.

The best way to see mental disorder is as a series of varying degrees of depression and stress. Mild stress produces an excellent person for creativity and performance. More depression saps the energy and creativity that these people once had as they leave neurosis and become bipolar. There are three levels used to describe Bipolar. Then the imbalance of chemicals made by your own brain plays havoc with the whole control system. The auto brain or lower brain can aggressively access messages that were kept from it earlier. As the depression continues and more and more logic substitutions are made the mind goes into a full psychosis where ideas are disassociated and language decays. The end result of psychosis from severe depression is schizophrenia which has been described as incurable . There are of course are always a few people who have been able to recover mental stability. The greatest learning step required for all levels of depression recovery is to see that society as two groups . Study what you group are in and stay with your own kind to find peace and happiness.

A chemical imbalance is the cause of mental illness. Mental illness can exist without a chemical imbalance but these types will be caused some sort of emotional trauma - such as being scared of horses because a horse kicked your dad when you were 5 years old or somethign similar. Chemical imbalance will be caused by genetics always however the imbalance may not manifest itself for many years after birth, important life events such as deaths, marriages, leaving home etc. can trigger a chemical imbalance if your genetics code for it.

See a psychiatrist. You are an adult so get over the stigma of being called crazy. You are at least manic depressive, probably a better label is that you might be bi-polar. You need professional counselling. I am normally very much against meds for mental/emotional issues, but bi-polar disorder... you need meds. You and your doctor will have to use trail and error to find the right balance of meds for you and YOU NEED TO STAY ON THEM, possibly for the rest of your life. This will make a huge difference in you getting through college, having romantic relationships, getting married and staying married, so if you feel hesitant to go get this taken care of, just forget about graduating college, having relationships, and a marriage that doesn't end in divorce. As I said, I am normally against meds, but for bi-polar, you need it. Do it for yourself. Good luck.

Chemical imbalances and mental illness go hand in hand. I am b-polar. I take meds and it has changed my life so much. I waited till I was about 47 to do anything about it. I am so it took me so long to.
Get a new doc if yours is not listening. Just because they are a doctor does not mean they know ALL there is to know especially. A family doc or general medicine doc are not the one to see. Find a psyc doctor.
Do something, it could really change your life.

You may have a disorder along with chemical imbalances in your brain. Please, go to a doctor who can then take several screening tests. He may recommend a psychiatrist for you to see, as some disorders are better diagnosed by a psychiatrist.
They should then be able to prescribe counseling, medication, etc. that will help you deal with these manic episodes.
Very Good Luck!!

It sounds to me like you could suffer from bi-polar. It's a condition that takes you from 1 extreme to the other in seconds. Anxiety and depression are very real conditions and even being an injury you can't sometimes see it's painful to endure. I would suggest you see a neurologist. I know this because I'm bi-polar myself. Please don't wait until you lose interest in everything.

It could be an anxiety disorder which can include ADHD and obsessive compulsive disorder. Try an antidepressant to even out your moods. If you look closely in your family, you will find some others with variations of what you have.

DO NOT GO TO A PSYCH. Go to www.cchr.org and watch the videos first. Find out for yourself. You are NOT a retard. You just have alot of suppression around you that needs to be confronted and shattered.

You would be best served to consult with a mental health specialist. It sounds like you are having anxiety attacks plus signs of being bipolar.
