Is it possible to replace the deck without having to replace the changer? I have a 1994 Jetta and the CD deck is getting old and the buttons are worn out but I have no problem with the 10 disk changer in the trunk. Can I just swap the deck for a newer one?

Yes, a lot of aftermarket CD players have wires/inputs in the back for auxillary components, such as a CD changer. Just make sure that you buy the wiring harnesses for the change out. Don't cut the factory wiring...ever!

the main straight forward subject in a case like it extremely is a bad cd cassette. Borrow a properly-known solid cassette or purchase a clean one (it is not extreme priced) to work out if it may maximum suitable the subject (after all the cassette is a number of years old already and truthfully needs to get replaced). If no longer then there's a extreme risk that the cd changer itself is undesirable. yet earlier going that direction do a battery reset or disconnect the cd changer for variety of 10 minutes, greater effective nevertheless in one day, then recheck. each and every so often a battery reset does miracles. yet basically each and every so often.

if you have any doubt about doing this your self, take it in to a stereo shop. VW's have funny wiring. yes they will swap out. or go to an aftermarket. you will need the "special" wiring kit for that model of car and cd changer.
