I am a female that has a male friend that I have known for the last 10 years. We use to go bar-hopping together and he always talked to me about women he liked. We have lost touch over the last few years and he has recently come back into my life, with some shocking news. He married his male friend to prevent him from being deported. I have seen the wedding photos and both of the 'grooms' had their female girlfriends at the wedding as witnesses. The question I have is, would a completely straight man do this for a friend? Or are we all just really naive?

I honestly think that, depending on how close the two friends were, that he probably WOULD have done that for a friend. if he felt a strong bond between them (like brothers) i think he would have done virtually anything for his friend, the same way a mother will do everything to protect her children. If in all the years you have known him you never suspected him being gay, he probably isnt.

I have plenty of friends that I like. I'd watch football with them, I'd help them out with fix-up projects around the house, heck, I might even take a bullet for one of them if the situation were right...but I would not marry them...for any reason...ever. In fact, if they even asked me that question, they be done in my book.
I'm not trying to be narrow-minded here, people are free to choose the lifestyles they want, all I'm saying is that this guy is not "all guy" in the spirit of the way you asked your question.
