blind child had an epileptic fit while cutting it with garden clippers? I just did. I asked for 3 inches off and long layers (I had waist length hair) Now the majority of it is a few inches below my shoulders and it slopes to one side. There are areas where there are huge chunks missing. They had styled it so I couldn't tell how bad it was until I got home later. I went back and they refunded my money and evened it out a bit but it still looks terrible and it's way too short. I just want to cry every time I look at it. It's going to take me over a year to get it back to the length I wanted and requested. Anyone know any good tricks to help hair grow faster?

Yes thank you Vivian. I know hair grows. The time it takes to do so is the matter of my concern. I am an actress so there is a certain look I am more or less required to maintain. Head-got-caught-in-the-garbage-disposal is not that look. Loosing as much length as I did can cost me jobs.

So I trimmed it up a bit myself and I must say I did a d@mn fine job. It's finally even enough to be somewhat acceptable. It's still way too short obviously but if I curl it, it looks ok. I ordered some extensions online so that should be interesting. Thanks to all of you for your fun stories. I knew I wasn't the only person on the planet that this ever happened to but it sure is nice to feel understood and not alone during all the trauma, even if it's only about something as silly as hair.

Eat more protein and yellow and green veggies also
I have personally had some long term success (at least for me) with the HairTopia vitamins that are specifically designed to assist the body with the maximum hair growth building blocks.

OR

you could get hair extensions

OR

you could just get it re-layered and try somthing new

I know your situation, I once had lice a few years back When I was in 4th grade, and my mom chopped off my hair so much, it was way above the shoulders but helped make it easier to solve the lice. I actually cried that night in the bathroom and in fact while she was cutting it. It all grew back and now I'm in 7th. I know this may not seem like it but it could be alot worse...

all of the stuff below is form a helpful site:

Knowing how to grow long hair is only a challenge without knowing how to properly care for our hair.

On average, hair grows 1 inch every two months and usually sheds 100 hairs per day. But the discarded hairs are quickly replaced with new growth.

Hair growth also varies with the seasons. Many do not know this but our hair actually grows faster in warm weather and sunshine! So, make sure you get lots of sun but don't forget to protect your hair and scalp.

There's also more about the right diet, and mentions that sleep is important. ( I remember hearing somewhere that you also grow taller more at night, too.)

I had very dark black shoulder length hair and wanted to go a bit lighter into dark brown. Since I lightened my hair before, I knew it took no time to lighten my hair. The hairstylist wouldn't listen to me and left me 30min before checking on my hair. I left the salon with light blond hair. The guy put so much hairspray that when I washed it off, I understood why. My hair was breaking off from every where!!! I had short hair for about 3 years before I could let it grow again.
My hair grows much faster in summer or in a warm climate. Sauna helps too. Protect hair for sun/sea/pool water.
Cheer up and try a new haircut! Most movie stars have tried short hair at least once =)

Your not alone. A hair dresser butchered my hair also. She shredded my hair up so it looks so thin. I even have a chunk missing on one side. I put Charles Worthington Big Hair mousse in my hair and then blow dry using a round brush, then I use hair spray to keep it in place, otherwise it will look like a mop.If your hair is at least even, then just let it grow,if it isn't totally even, get trims until it is even, then let it grow. There really isn't anything that will make it grow faster. Good luck

Just wait a few days. You may be able to work with it and end up liking it. Keep an open mind to new styles that are a bit shorter than you originally wanted...it will grow again.
I think there are some supplements for hair/nail growth but I wouldn't recommend them.

My hair looks terrible! I got it cut on MLKJ day, and I didn't really want it short. My mom made me. The lady sat there and took about five inches off, and I look like a boy! LITERALLY! It is terrible, but i have learned to deal with it and just make my own style with it

there is no longer something worse then somebody screwing up your hair. no matter what, you may not particularly disguise it. the terrific you may desire for is camouflage. you may attempt some head bands or barrettes till it grows out. a minimum of with the bangs held back it will be difficult to tell that it became shrink too short. the different concern you're able to do in case you particularly hate wearing your hair back is to objective blow-drying the bangs as straight away as a danger to lead them to look as long as a danger. Sorry she snarled your hair. =(

I never personally had a really bad haircut (to scared) but my friend wanted her hair in a cute shoulder length style and end up with a major bob. We refer to it as the "mushroom!"

I sure did. It wasn't very long ago. It was around Christmas Eve. when there was a Christmas party with my friends. I was going to go with my best friends but, after I got the haircut I decided not to. Then i suddenly saw wigs on sale. So I bought one. At the end I went with my BOYFRIEND (JAMES GREGORY). But my friend accidently pulled my it and it fell off.
I was so embarrassed.
