Eek. I'd buy a parrot for your home that you can take back and forth to work with you, if it were me.
My question is...embalming fluids. I have never considered the fumes and stuff that are in the air at a funeral home, as I've never had a bird IN a funeral home. There's formaldehyde and all of that, I would want to know what type of emissions that these fumes give off and their effects on birds.
If you want a bird that can quietly amuse itself that you'll take back and forth with you and not leave at your office all the time, an Eclectus male would probably be the best.
I can see a lot of potential embarassments for you if you get one of the major talking birds like a Grey or an amazon or macaw or something. That's not to say that eclectus's don't talk, but...not as much anyway.
Just don't leave it at your office all the time. I have a friend who takes her eclectus back and forth to work with her every day. She's got a cage at home and a cage/playstand at the office. It works out pretty good.

#1 unless you realy have a cleaner in your office dayly you won't want a bird there they can be messy and some customers can be insullted by you having it there.
It really depends if your interested or have the time to handle the bird. There many birds that don't mind being in there cage a lot but every parrot will need handling if you want them to stay tame.
but It's realy up to you
If you want a bird that would entertain you I would get a Amazon or Grey. I think the smaller birds might be noisy while your on the phone. So can be a bigger bird as well. And if you get a parrot they have all the right to make noise that's what birds do.
But you need to realize that if you get a parrot they can learn to imitate your voice and the words you say. So you need to be very careful with that. Imagine planning things with your wife on the phone to do at night. and the bird repeats it when you have a client sitting there planning a funeral. And the parrot will say honey I want -------------. you when I get home. If you say the same thing many times they will pick up. Or if you keep on saying things related to business like give him the cheaper one. etc... just be carfull they do learn to repeat.. My Amazon tells me good night all most every night when I shut the light in his room. It only took a few months for him to pick it up.

Amazon Grey's are very good parrots. If you can get one as a baby then you can train it, or as an adult you will know it's disposition and personality either way is good. They aren't as noisy as some other species.
But, my suggestion would be take the parrot home on the weekends--most parrots require attention and get very bored left alone.
In a funeral home I'm sure you want a fairly quiet one and possibly one that is smaller, Amazons are about 12-14 inches in height.
You could talk to your local bird shop about their natures.

None. Parrots are very social, and unless you are willing to bring it home it could get depressed and get sick or stop eating. Unless you have had a parrot and know what kind of care and attention they involve I wouldnt get one. Start with a pair of cockatiels or something that has a friend so it is not lonely and is not a care burden like a parrot.

Parrots tend to by noisy and grieving families may not appreciate this trait even if it is in an office. The male canary generally has a sweet song.Good luck on your search and have a tweet year.

i dont think it it is a good idea to have aparrot of any kind in a office. parrots will not do well alone and sitting in their cage all the time. parrots are very social animals they need to be active. i had a friend who owned a gromming salon and she had 2 parrots there. she had a tree stand for them at work and she took them home at night. they went everywhere with her. please think it through.

Birds can be very loud, especially parrots. I don't think they would be a wise choice for a funeral home.

I've read somewhere (probably Readers Digest) that a funeral home had gotten an African Grey and he greeted people as they came to see their departed. It stated that he made the place a little bit brighter because it seemed as though he understood on a deeper level just exactly what his 'job' was!
I would recommend an African Grey above all others for this position!

One of those quiet, trained ones. Oh yeah buy a cage before you buy the parrot.

Parrots become human companions for life. THEY DO NOT MAKE GOOD OFFICE DECORATIONS!!! Maybe you should consider a pair of canaries, they require very little human inter-action... Maybe you should consider hiring Elvira??? Birdman
