Matthew affirms that heaven was "prepared for you from the foundation of the world" ( 25:34 ). But here in John 14:2 Jesus said , " I go to prepare a place for you," implying that it was not yet prepared at that time.
Tell me your thoughts. : )

The first text speaks about the c r e a t i o n of heaven and the second is about its p r e p a r a t i o n . The former passage speaks in general about the preexistence of heaven; the latter s p e c i f i c a l l y about its preadapataion to each particular soul. There is a dual preparation of heaven for each person and each person for heven. Since individual belivers will have different rewards ( 1 Cor 3: 11-15; 2 Cor 5:10 ), then their reward in heaven, which already exists, will have to be suited to their particular service.

Matt 25:34 is part of a parable.
John 14 is not.
In John 14 Jesus says that "in my Fathers house are many rooms..." Sounds like its already done to me.
"... I go there to prepare a place for you". May only mean that he will put your name on the door, not build it.
Read closer-use a good commentary like "The Bible Knowledge Commentary".

i have dreams of the afterlife, so it seems.
sometimes i dream of living in a richly decorated apartment, sometimes i have been removed from that apartment and given smaller and less abundant places to live.
the one thing i know is that NOT all mankind gets a Mansion. mansions are reserved the those that are worthy of glory and who are faithful. Jesus said those are faithful with one city shall be given ten cities but to the one who took a talent and hid it in the ground, it shall be taken away from him and given to the one with 5 talents.
this implies that the future is changeable, only the faithful are given hundredsfold of houses and wives.

Reminds me of an old house my grand pa left me in his will. It was a fortress-like mansion on a high cliff which had been vacant for five years. So my dad had four strong young men prepare it and make it livable.

Heaven is ready.
Jesus is preparing our lives in heaven. A place in the heavenlies. It's gonna be awesome. We're "building heavenly storehouses" as we trust in Jesus and tell others about his endless love!
(I can't wait..)

i think that it is still not prepared. im not to sure about the exact place, but the bible (somewhere) says that when you die, you are put in a paradise, as to wait for the REAL heaven.

After Jesus ascended into heaven, he started preparing that place for those whom Jehovah has chosen to serve as Kings and Priest over the earth.
144,000 total from Pentecost 33 CE until the year of 1914 when he ousted Satan and his demons from heaven and confined them to the earth.
Then those of the 144,000 who had died prior to 1914 were resurrected to immortal life and remaining ones of that chosen number, when they die, they are instantly resurrected to immortal life in the heavens in a twinkling of an eye.

No, look how God made all things, God made all things through the human, and the creation thereof is greater than the earth's and people's wealthy beings.

I think that you need to go and talk to a minister or a professional!
Seriously, if you debate THIS much about the Bible then maybe shouldn't read it any more!
