depends on your body weight,
you alcohol tolerance,
and weither you've eaten or not lately.
figure it this way,
a beer is 8-10 proof.
vodka is like 40 proof ( or maybe you have something stronger?)
how many beers can your drink?
of course,
if you are wanting vodka cause you are underage, and want something that doesn't show on your breath.....
I'd advise against it.
One shot of anything will impare you.
and you don't get smarter when you start drinking
maybe you want one,
then it kicks in ,
and hey, that feels good, lets have another,
and I think you get the idea.

Im trying to figure out what you mean by overdoing it. You mean drunk but not vomiting or just buzzing.
Nonetheless I think many factors play into this.
Weight is one but not as a big as factor as people think. I weigh 93 lbs yet I could outdrink an ex boyfriend who was about 6'7 235 lbs. Seriously he was out with 2 beers. Which brings my second point to light...state of mind.. I thik if someone has in thier head they are gonna get drunk then they are. I proved to this to a friend one time by giving her non-alcholic beer yet she in her mind was drunk.
I thik also tolerance to alchol has alot of play. I have a high tolerance because I guess it runs in my blood and honestly I was exposed to booze at early age. (I think I was about 9 the first time I ever got drunk) I also drank alot back in my day. So it would take me more to get drunk...despite my small size.
Currently I get drunk maybe 1 time a year but still can handle up to quite a few shots before over doing it. Mixing alcohol will do me in faster. For example Saturday I was doing Mind Erasers (Jager and Vodka shot) and got up to 11 and I was pretty messed up but ok. Then I started some Gasoline shots (Hot Damn 100 and Vodka shot) and then some Daquari and thats when I lost it...lost my mind lost my lunch...you get the point.
The last factor is how fast you. If you do say 3 shots in 5 minutes its going to affect you much more than if you did 3 shots in a hour. By drinking slower your body has time to metabolize the alcohol a little, thus having a slower reaction.

It affects you quick and it affects you bad. I've seen people do things when they were drunk on vodka that were crazy. I don't know why vodka affects some people like that, but it does. I think the average person could probably do 3-4 shots and not be overdoing it. But usually people have shots with other drinks so then that would be bad.

If it's a mostly straight drink like a vodka tonic, then about 3/4 of a glass. If it's more diluted like a bloody mary, then 2 glasses. I'm a wuss when it comes to hard alcohol. Bring on the beer.

no, it won't final to any extent further in case you prefer a similar bring about case you're taking a often occurring 40% abv vodka, and fill 0.5 the bottle with water, you will now have an entire bottle of 20% abv vodka, which skill you will ought to drink two times the quantity to have a similar result as eating the un-dilluted 40% vodka.

It depends on body weight and alcohol tolerance. For driving a car I would say 2-3 shots in one hour is right on the borderline of over doing it. Buzzed driving is drunk driving. Or so THEY say.

It depends on a few things like your weight, how often you drink, how much & how fast you drink, did you eat before you drank, are you taking shots or drinking mixed drinks. Typically it can hit you pretty fast outside of those things listed above.

Unfortunately, there really isn't a standard answer. it depends on so many things: weight, if they ate, metabolic rate, fitness level...I would suggest that "a person" not do more than 1 an hour. That will agve your body a chance to burn it off. Any more than that, "a person" will start to feel it more and more, until they "overdo it".

You better take about 5 then evaluate how you feel. You should be ok, but take it slow after that because they will catch up to ya.
