That's a great question. I often wonder the same thing. I don't really know the answer, and I'm not sure if anyone really has a good one. I'm sure a lot of people feel that God will call them home when it is their time. I personally don't feel that way, but I understand the reason that believers do.
And I don't think it's an issue of wanting to go to Heaven soon, but rather wanting to spend eternity there when life on Earth is over. Just a guess.
One a side note, I wonder why it is that people often fight disease and fatal circumstances rather than succumb and sit at their "father's" side in Heaven.

I believe it to be an innate fear that we may not get there, part of our conscience given by God as a warning system that maybe we are not on the right path to heaven. And as an indication of our fear of the unknown...My answer may be deemed biased...Before I was a Christian I was borderline phobic about death & dying. But once I was understood, our purpose & the after life through Christian teachings those fears subsided. We are so attached to our earthly possessions, our bodies our family, our TV & homes etc, etc...That leaving those things makes us uncomfortable. But, when you can be rational with those inevitable fears, as I did with Christ, they disappear. I know that while I am here I am here for a purpose. I may not know what that purpose is, but I have one. When it is my time to go, I know that will also be for a purpose, reason known or unknown. I figure if I can't possible plan for everything, I will plan on nothing.

Most people don't want to die but they know sooner or later they will and the thought of no kind of after life is sad and scary so we either believe that there is a god and heaven, or we hope that there is or we simply accept our fate and do what every other living thing does, die, rot and that's it.

It's because we have always seen Heaven as a place which we are provoked to go too. It's so wonderous, that we can't help it, yet we don't want to die, but appreciate the fact that there's life in heaven after death.

We're hedging our bets, I feel. If one believes that existence in heaven is unquestionably at all times superior to existence on earth, then any reluctance to die immediately must come from a fear that death will not result in trip to heaven. This fear could come from either a fear that heaven does not exist or a fear that the individual will not get in to heaven. It could also come from a desire to help those still on earth or a desire to live out the natural course of one's life according to God's plan. I don't know, it's a tough question.

Because heaven would be heaven a nice place to go rather than any other alternative that Ive heard of I believe. And to we are attached to ourlives because we have family and friends and pets and even our cars that we drive. Our lives in general. Life can be tough though and death has always seemed to be a depressing event in my life. Its not something that I generally look forward to. It could be painfull to but hopefully not.

No one wants to die. The will to survive is a part of all of us, but we all are going to die sometime. No one lives forever, here on earth at least. So, if we have to leave this earthly body, we'd rather be in heaven than in hell.

Everyone is afraid of the unknown. We don't know what to expect as we supposedly never experienced it. You gotta make your own heaven on earth or your own hell if you wish so if you die at least you can say...yup...i went there already.
Good luck!

Yeah, why is that? If you believe in a heaven, and it's so great, why are you so reluctant to die? Shouldn't you be itching to go to war and die a hero's death and then see Valhalla?

I believe it is because we are creatures of the earth and are attached to it in primeval way`s that we do not fully understand yet,and although we want Heaven we are of this earth and this is a strong bond.
