How can so many people, hell how can anyone in this day and age not believe in God? How can so many people believe that we came from monkeys/apes? If that's true then why are there still monkeys? I would rather believe in God, accept Christ as my savior and try to live right and find out when I die it was all in vain, rather than not believe, live recklessly and when I die find out that Jesus is Real. I wish I could explain/prove God/Jesus/The Holy Spirit to all non believers but I can't. All I can do is witness that He is real. I can't explain electricity. I know if I turn on a light switch, the electricity travels until it reaches the bulb and the light turns on. Still, I've never seen electricity, but I always see the evidence of it's existence. I've never seen God in person, but when I see the planets, the trees, water, animals, humans, etc. I see the evidence of His exsistence. Amazing Grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost but now I'm found, Glory.

Simply put there are some of us that have evolved at a faster rate then others, and the refer to us as atheists and free thinkers.

"If that's true then why are there still monkeys?"

That fact that you don't know the answer is evidence of your scientific ignorance.

This question is asked and answered many times a day. You are either not paying attention, or you are willfully maintaining your ignorance.

" I would rather believe in God, accept Christ as my savior and try to live right and find out when I die it was all in vain, rather than not believe, live recklessly and when I die find out that Jesus is Real"

So thats it? The only options are to live "good" for god, or selfishly without god? You are pathetic.

I live for my species, for my community and for my family. I don't need the god delusion to be "good".

What you see in nature is nothing more then evidence of nature. You only conclude that god must have created what you see, you do not base it on evidence or logic, only emotion and desire.

Excellent question. It only seems that way. Why? Because the non-believers in todays society are the most vocal. They and their cause are always splashed across the front page or TV screen by the main stream media. You never hear about the good a church group did at the local old folks home, or how they cleaned up the park, or how they work with the disabled. All we ever hear is about how someone is offended by a cross or the ten commandments somewhere. We are being brainwasahed by the media into thinking that someone that is offened by a cross or ten commandments or anything morally good is a horrible thing, that religion is a horrible thing, that crosses are horrible, churches are horrible, but the athiest is just an innocent person who was offended. They use mental suggestion. They use touchey words like "rights" and "feelings" and they use scary important sounding phrases like Seperation of Church and State, and scary catch words like tollerance, and indoctrination to induce fear and shame. All of that is to make YOU feel like YOU are bad for displaying a cross or saying a prayer. Wrong! We Good Men and Women need to stand up and fight tooth and nail. Confront this religious clensing every time it rears its ugly head and put a stop to it.

Yeah, but understand this, dude. Many of us CAN explain electricity beyond just seeing the evidence of it's existance. We read books OTHER than the bible, so we know that man AND monkey evolved from a common species ancestor, and THATS why both of our species still exist. You would know this too if you had the level of intelligent inquiry of a tangerine.

You would 'rather believe'? So then what you believe is a choice? News flash. True belief (or disbelief) is not a choice. It is the inevitable result of the way you look at the world, not a decision you made because the result might be favorable.

Do yourself a favor. Travel the world. Read books of literature and history and science. Expand your mind. If you learn the truth and it's not what you wanted it to be, then at least you'll have the good fortune to know the truth. Wouldn't that be better than living a lie?

I believe in Gods...just not yours. I could call you an "unbeliever" too because you don't worship the All-Father, Odin. Not everyone follows your religion you know. You need to clam down.

No one believes we came from monkeys, you need to study evolution. Humans and monkeys have a common ancestor, we did not come from monkeys.

And what if you find out that you picked the wrong God to worship? What if you face Hades or Anubis in the afterlife. I don't think they would be too pleased with you Pascal's wagerers, to say nothing of the Aztec Gods.

A person can live a moral and virtuous life without any religion, I do hope you know that.

3 old arguements in 1 question; evolving from apes, Pascal's wager, and I can't see something but I know it exists. All have been refuted ad infinitum in this forum.

Electricity can be seen in the form of lightning, and can be quite easily explained. You are just showing that, like most other christians, your knowledge is limited and you therefore rely on an omnipotent being to explain natural occurrences. Some primitive tribes in Papua New Guinea still do the same.

You've never seen electricity? Haven't you ever seen lightning? Haven't you ever gotten a shock after doing the laundry? There is plenty of proof of the existence of electricity, more so than there is for God. The pitiful arguments you made for God in your question only serve to display your ignorance to the world. You've clearly never given the nature of your God any thought.

I'm not really surprised at the amount of non-believers. But I do understand why they do not believe in him. The world today is growing apart from God.

This part to people who live in America: Did you know that the United States of America was founded on God? Look at the US now. Mention God and you get in big trouble and jumped on by non-believers. You say we can believe what we want (meaning you can believe God does not exist) so why can't we believe that he does?

I have many friends who do not believe in God, the majority do. I do not jump on them and say believe in God or go to hell. I think you should believe whatever you want to. We will find the truth out one day. So do not jump on us believers (now if we jump on you I can understand).

I am very happy for you, that you have found a faith that helps you, comforts you, and hopefully makes you a better person. And I am sorry that so many of your answerers are so hateful and sarcastic to you. I know you believe in your faith and love your God, and your Jesus. And I don't mean to be rude or sarcastic to you personally. However...

With all due respect to your faith, I must say... You are very messed up! You are the perfect example of one of the many people who believe everything you hear from your ministers and nothing of what science, your senses, or even common sense tells you.

I'm curious, when you talk about "unbelievers," why is the first thing you mention evolution? Is creationism really the most important thing for a "believer" to believe in?

Your statement "... we came from monkeys" shows that you do not know anything about evolution science, just what scientifically uneducated ignorant preachers have said about it. Evolution does not say we came from monkeys.

You'd rather accept Christ... and find out when you die it was all in vain, than not believe, live recklessly, and when you die find out Jesus is real. Perhaps you need a belief in God and Jesus to keep you from "living recklessly." Most people, however, live respectable lives irregardless of whether they believe in Jesus or not. That's just another cliche some ministers use to keep their sheep in line.

"I've never seen electricity, but I see the evidence of its existence [and therefore believe in it]". That is another age-old Christian cliche used since electricity was invented.

These cliche's sound profound, but if you look at them objectively, they are really pretty trite, even quaint, but certainly not profound. Still, they bring comfort to people who need them to support their faith.

Again, I am very happy for you. Believe what you wish, or what you must, and trust God for your salvation. I just hope, sincerely, that you do not feel compelled to force others to believe in and live by the precepts taught to you by your personal religion, your own beliefs, or your minister's teachings.

Peace...

ADDED: Note to Sheryl... Most people who appear to be angry ("pissed" in your words) at God, are not upset with God, or even with Christians in general, at all. They (we) are upset with Christians who attempt to force their beliefs on everyone, to force everyone to live by THEIR belief system, by law if necessary, and have absolutely no respect for any beliefs other than their own. I hope you are not one of those people.

There are too many fake Christians in the world, so no.

Did you know that the spirit living in us raised Christ from the dead?

If only we used our authority! The world could change!

13 men changed the world 2000 years ago, and we can't do it today because we're scared of what people might think!

No I'm not amazed. For so long Christians have hidden in the wood work afraid to stand up for what they believe in. I agree, I'd rather live for the Lord and find out He's not real than live a lawless life and find out He is. Wind too. You know it's there, you can see the trees blow but not the wind its self. Yes, Amen for Amazing Grace. I too once was lost but now am found. HALLELUJAH!
