You disabled the restore points and therefore deleted them.
Or you ran an anti-virus program that deleted them.
Or they never existed in the first place.

Those three scenarios account for about 99% of the potential reasons. I guarantee it is not some type of computer voodoo.

There is only a limited amount of Restore points stored, an amount allocated by windows based on available space on your hard drive. I also believe that if a major change is made to the operating system, you can not restore back, explorer sucks any way go to Firefox. Much better and faster.

Did you ever run the Disk Cleanup utility? If you did, that program can clear up space by deleting all but the most recent restore points. Or, if you set a certain amount of space on your harddrive for your restore capability, it will start deleting old ones to make space for the most recent.

Installing major programs like IE 7 can cause data loss and I have seen this lose all restore point. Just recreate a new one and you will be fine.

windows will delete old restore point as it needs the space for new ones, and it will make new ones with anything new or different that happens to your system

I had not heard of that. However when I just checked my Restore Points, all was gone before installing IE7 as well. I still have several points as they are created regularly.
