Trust me, most of them are just stressed. They go through alot of schooling to get their teachers certificate and then are quite underpaid. They became teachers because they want to help children grow and learn.
Sometimes, they just get really tired and stressed out. I don't believe teachers have bad intentions at all. It's not fair that they have to work so hard and deal with so many smart mouth kids and parents everyday only to make not much more than the people stocking shelves at Wal-mart.
I've had teachers who've I've thought were awful, but after growing up and seeing everything they have to do, I have SO much respect for them.
No, most teachers are not mean.

Some are, some aren't. Most people don't take the time to actually think about how much work teachers do. Most of the time they get no appreciation for it.

Only the ones that humiliate students. Giving hard homework, expecting you to do your own work.... does not constitute a mean teacher.

Oh I'm in uni for teaching and I hope not!
There are always a few bad apples in the barrel though....
