I'm a student in ENC1101 for the second time this semister. I not so good in my writing. I mostly have grammer error and verb ending errors. My teacher recommended me to go to a lab but i can not afford to pay for the class and i also don't have the time. Is there any suggestions on how i can improve my writing through internet website or any other alternatives? Thanks

Try reading OUT LOUD what you write. Then the obvious errors stand out.

You just said "Is there any suggestions" - well, /is/ happens to be singular, and /suggestions/ is plural. So one or the other must be changed: "Are there any suggestions," or "Is there a suggestion."

One other grammar mistake in your work is: "I am not so good in my writing" The phrase "in my writing" sounds as though you are actually IN your writing, like a person might be IN the bath, or IN your pajamas. One should say "I am not such a good writer."

There are other mistakes too, but I won't go into them. Grammar and verb agreement can be learned and you are correct to want to do it.

Ask a good English speaker to read your stuff out loud , and ask them to red mark any places which need correction. You WILL improve.

The other answerer said READ books. Good books certainly are a wonderful way to hear the language so try reading them out loud too. It'll help.

Never quite got over that myself... and I'm in my 40's...

I don't have an answer other than to practice it. Read and pay attention to what you hear...

I have problems with certain kinds of things like that so... I am no one to ask.

I muddle through and try as hard as I can and hope that I come across forgiving understanding people when I write anything.

Most people are grammar and punctuation Nazi's though and will bully you over it. Unless the criticism is productive and you actually learn something from it... Don't listen! Just do your best for yourself and your teacher...

I got used to the nazi's a long time ago and ignore them...

Read a lot. I am not good at it either, but it's true when I read it really does help.
