Finally, after a few years of tweaking, I have my computer working great with XP Pro....why on earth would I want to ruin it all by getting VISTA...which by my understanding would be incompatible with my current system anyway. Plus, all the software I have would probably be incompatible!!!! I already have IE7 and had to tweak that too.....GIVE ME 5 reasons why I should upgrade?

There are none. Windows2000 is supported until 2010 and XP supported until about 2012? Not real sure. Last 5 years of the support is on-line, but, it work. I still trying to decide if I should upgrade my Windows 98SE on this Laptop. Ha! It do everything I need it for. Below an Article I just read @ Yahoo News. It may be worth some time to read and not bust @ss to kiss the Microbutt. Heck, I figure by the time my Win2000 and XP feel old. There will be the "Windows 2010 Space Odyssey Version" It will be out of this world. LOL!
I got you the Windows Life-cycle page, second link.

Rather than upgrade, why not setup a second partition/hard drive and have a dual boot XP/Vista system. That way you can play with the new features of Vista and get used to all the problems you'll have with unsupported software/hardware etc. If Vista doesn't work out for you, you've still got your solid XP install and you just format the Vista out. As long as you know XP well, the boot manager issues shouldn't be too troublesome to restore.

Good luck.

You probably should not.
I have consulted for years and staple wisdom dictates you don't upgrade without a reason.
It sounds to me like you do not have one.

The advantages to Vista that MS is touting include....
Integration of the Windows Media Center (very cool stuff)
Much more refined and pleasant looking interfaces design.
Advanced troubleshooting tools available on the backend to techs.
Maximized usage of dual processor machines.
New set of driver support for cutting edge hardware.

Well, since you said that you already have XP running great, i see no reason to upgrade.

Because sooner or later everyone will do that, because "somebody" is changing the world as he wants, it is our destiny, so it is yours too. But don't panic, there is nothing to fear from, it will always be this way.

Money makes the world go.....
