It absolutely depends on how much you paid in income tax!

But generally speaking, if you made less than 10,000 in a year, you won't owe any taxes. Except of course for Social Security and medicare taxes, which are never refunded.

Figure out the greater of your itemized deductions or the standard deduction for your filing status, then add in the total personal exemption amounts for you plus any dependents you may claim, and that will be the maximum amount you can earn and still have zero tax liability.
