There is no evidence of a physical or physiological addiction. There is a great deal of evidence of a psychological addiction.

Anyone's thought are irrelevant when compared to innumerable studies that have successfully demonstrated that cannabis is in no way physically addictive. However, for that small percentage of the population known to have what is characterized as an "addictive personality," it could be assumed that, just as they get addicted to bubble gum, szechuan dining, or pretty much anything and everything else, they are prone to becoming addicted to cannabis.

It can be. I never thought so until my friend had to go to Alcoholics Anonymous to get the courage to quit. Anything can be addictive. But it is healthier to become addicted to fresh air, exercise, and pure water than it is to become addicted to something that only numbs the pain. I personally never experienced addiction to cannabis, but I fell head first into alcoholism. I would really like to live my life free of any possible addictions, and I'm going to keep trying for that. Except, of course, for fresh air, pure water, exercise, and an appreciation of those things.

It can be with certain people at least cause psychological dependance.
Have met many who only drunk and smoke dope and do f all else.
Plus have had cousis with mental problems triggered by it which may have been dormant till then.
Whilst many others were fine.Practically everyone I know has tried it.
So much depends on who you are and a good clue is family background with tendancy to drink all the time etc. or family history of schitophrenia.

Persoanlly can't see the point as all that appears to happen is you get sleepy and get a sore throat.
Plus if you do it a lot may get you addicted to the tabbaaco and nictotein in the joints

Its not physically addictive like nicotine and heroin, but it can be psychologically addictive if you smoke enough, you would still get cravings. And you would go through hell giving it up. And the side effects can remain even though you dont smoke it any more.
BTW the lethal dose of cannabis is about 880 joints smoked consecutively. I just wanted to say that cos Ive never had the opportunity before.

Who cares whether it's addictive really? I'd rather know why saddos use it in the first place-you must really be lacking something in your life to have a crutch like that. It's a kiddie thing-real grown ups don't feel the need to use it.They have better things to spend time and money on.Plus every person I've ever met that have used it for a long period of time are total dimwits that find stringing a legible sentence together harder than climbing Everest!!The long term effects are serious-it makes you sound and act stupid!!

No I don't think it is physically addictive, maybe psycilogicaly. I smoke it for 12 years every nite, gave it up last year.
I never thought I could do it, suffered weird dreams for a while but I have never felt better. Best thing I ever did.
It gradually wears away at your mental well being. Turns you into an unsociable vegatable.

Physically it is not an addictive substance, but as can a lot of things, it can be mentally addicting. You will not experience withdrawal symptoms such as headaches and the like, but mentally you could just be thinking "I wish I was high right now". Mental addictions are also sometimes harder to break.

I think it's only slightly addictive. If you smoke every day, your mind will get used to that daily relaxing release. When you quit you will experience some anxiety. On a drug scale (compared to heroin and ciggarettes, etc) it's pretty minor. I think it's mostly addictive in a psychological sense. You will really like to get high and will want to do it all the time.

Good old fasioned grass is fine but unfortunatly these days the crop has been bred to be more potent and is mixed with other chemocals making some types very nasty indeed. Long term use now leads to permenant psycological damage.
Still, about the same as alcohol / ciggarettes.
