Try bar soap. You may just have very active oil glands. Diet helps too.

It is possible that your tap water isn't clean enough and the dirt from the water is building up on your hair. Get a water filter, or just a jug that filters water and use that to wash your hair. Change to a gentle shampoo and use it on a regular basis, at least every other day. Rinse with 1 tablespoon of vinegar (color doesn't matter) and 1 glass of warm water. Then rinse 3 more times with cold water (not lukewarm or even warm - COLD).
Stop using any kind of hair gel and hair spray, until you feel that the condition is getting better. These can build up on your hair, too. Do not blow dry, but if you absolutely have to then only dry your roots and let the rest air dry.
Brush your hair with a natural bristle brush 2 - 4 times per day. You are distributing natural oils that should be there.

Are you using too much conditioner, or scatching your scalp often. If so, that might be the problem. When you use too much conditoner it makes your hair more oily, and scratching your scalp makes your skin create more oils, thus making your hair oily. You should probly see a hairdresser about this, so they can help you find the right conditoner and shampoo to use.

Good luck, and make sure to rinse ALL of the shampoo and conditoner out of your hair!

There is a condition where the consumption of certain acidic foods or drinks can trigger a malodorous problem. Monitor what you eat, and buy strong scented personal hygiene products. Remember to drinks copious amounts of water to cleanse your body. When in doubt, call your doctor.

You can add Dawn dish detergent into your shampoo or use it separately just use small amounts and generous amounts of moisturizer.

Try changing your diet. Typically if you diet is filled with sweets, fillers, perservatives, additives and the like, it is noticeable through your hair, scalp, skin and nails.

Get shampoo for extra oily hair. Mine was that way in my teens. Wash your hair every day too.

hmmm.. Ive never heard of anyone with smelly hair before. I think your best bet would be to go see your hair dresser and get a professional opinion. Or you could go to your doctor.
