Is it a gaz guzzler? How much does it consume? I bought a 2005 Grand Cherokee Laredo with a 4.7 Liter V8 engine last week but I am willing to sell it in the coming days because it's a silly gas guzzler!

I've got a 2004 w/the 4.7 and love it. Its a V8 and it is gonna use more gas. I average 17.7 around town and got 19mpg when drove it from S.Cal to Frisco. I got 14.4 when towing my YJ.

I think that the 3.7 is to small of an engine for that Jeep. I like to tow my other Jeep and pass people on the freeway. (Not at the same time).

Sounds like you should have bought a CRV if you want good MPG.

Just a note to be wary. The weight of the 3.7 Grand Cherokee is almost the same as the 4.7. The gas mileage is going to be negligible. The power difference is significant. I had a Liberty with the 3.7 and it could not break 21 MPG on the highway. Plus it was agutless wonder. I traded it for an Explorer 4x4 with a 4.0 motor and it got as high as 23 MPG on the highway.

no dont buy ive owned that model and i can tell you since it was the first year of the new body style there have been so many problems on the 2005 models that i traded mine in 6 months after i got it lucky i didnt get a loan on it, and besides the 4.7 gets 15, and the 3.7 were in the libertys get about 17 on a good day if you baby it, i would go with the 4.7 if you dont want a gas guzzler get a subaru better than jeeps in the snow

If you want a Grand Cherokee 4WD, get an older model with the 4.0Liter Inline 6 engine. The V6 and the V8's are all gas guzzlers.

I own a 96 Grand Cherokee full time 4WD, and average 26MPG mix city and highway. 28highway and 24city. They are very reliable if properly cared for. My jeep has 190,000 miles on it and still runs great and drives great. Just had the radiator replaced and starter replaced about 2500 miles ago. And I would still drive my jeep on long trips over my new Chevy Cobalt.

As a past owner of 3 Grand Cherokees and a current owner of a 4Runner, I can tell you I would never own one again.
