civil service exam...and

There's been a hiring freeze for many years with USPS for all full-time positions, unless you have Veteran's preference (translation, you served in the military).

Like others said, unless you are a minority and/or have a military background, you are wasting time trying to hire in there. One exception: the US Postal Service is VERY nepotistic in it's hiring practices, even though they say they aren't. If you have a relative who works there, you are as good as in, at least temporarily. That's how I got in. I must state, however, that I ended up quitting due to the fact that, again, you will not advance if you weren't in the military.

yes, you do have to have your high school diploma and then you have to pass some tests ,depending on which jobs they are taking applications for :
clerk, mailman , window ,sorting mail etc.
and you have to be an American citizen ......
