I now have someone claiming they want me to try a "miracle" water that allowed someone with cancer to live an extra 6 mos. How do I politely tell them that I'm sticking to the Dr.'s advice while trying to be as healthy as possible & that's it?! I realize in some bizarre way they mean well but give me a break already!!

Seriously, I have a sister who pushed & pushed & is now not speaking to me & told me I should argue with the docs advising me not to take the "magic" antioxidants & immune boosters! All the while I'm trying to beat cancer? Is it just me or is there something wrong here??

Yes, this has happened to us too . . as if anyone who is selling these so called products or books has ever used them successfully for advanced cancer. As soon as anyone mentions buying something . . be very, very suspicious. The worst are the marketers and private distributers hawking pills and juice as the next miracle cure for cancer. It's even worse when it is a family member or someone you thought was a friend. I'm a little bit more tolerant, but I did get into a bit of a tussle with my brother at Christmas over this issue as well.

It is also offensive to hear 'political rants' about the evils of the pharmaceutical companies when your kids very life depends upon those drugs. Who in the world do these people think they are preaching to? We are the ones who face the daily terror of losing a child or spouse or our own lives. They're just playing some political ranting game . . they have nothing to lose and its fun and entertaining for them.

Quite frankly, I listen only to reasoned people who can present facts about traditional as well as complementary treatments. I do not want to hear how awful the medical doctors are or how wonderful this or that alternative treatment is . . give me the facts and let me decide.

Hang in there, you're right . . most family members are well meaning. Ask for material to read . . to appease them . . and, if you find something interesting, just do some additional research.

Good luck.

It seems I'm in the minority here, but in 1990, I had Hodgkin's Lymphoma, stage 3-B, and I've survived. During the year in treatment, I started learning about alternative medicine.
Here's what I've figured out--FIRST, somebody--probably from the AMA--is getting my answers deleted as 'not a question or an answer', because they don't want you to know about it. So if you want to keep this information, you need to copy it to a wordpad document quickly, before it disappears. Hopefully, they'll give up and stop that nonsense soon. Now, here goes--

Cancer is caused by poor nutrition (including oxygen) and stressors. Stressors can be environmental, like heavy metals, food additives or pollution, or emotional or job stress.
Our bodies have 60 trillion--yes, trillion--cells, and there are always some mutating into cancer cells, but a healthy immune system kills them before they have a chance to get a foothold in the body.
It takes a LONG time, usually, or an exrtaordinary amount of stressors, to degrade the immune system to the point where it won't do its job, but once cancer has formed, it can spread rapidly.

THIS IS IMPORTANT! There are ways to BEAT cancer that the AMA is keeping from the American public, that are being used in Europe and around the world. Here is some information that is getting hard to find--

"The Cure for All Cancers", ISBN 0963632825;
"A Cancer Therapy", ISBN 0882681052;
"Hydrogen Peroxide--Medical Miracle", ISBN 1885236077;
"The Natural Cure for Cancer--Germanium", ISBN 0533071410;
"Killing Cancer", ISBN 0705000966.

Type 'used books' into your browser and find a good site, then type in the ISBN numbers and get some great help cheap.

I know of people whose cancer has 'spontaneously remitted' (WENT AWAY for no known reason) after they went on a program of herbs and nutrition.

The American Medical Association (AMA) and the pharmaceutical companies control medical law in this country, and they are in it for the money, and don't care about individuals. You and your family must look out for yourselves to stand a chance of being healthy.
This is not a joke, and I'm not selling anything. Look into it. Best of luck.

yes, the Mannaxxxx and Ambroxxxx salespeople are the worst about making promises that they can cure people with incurable conditions if you only buy enough of their supplements. They are taught that cancer patients are a sure income stream plus they tend to not complain after they pass away. With a relative making the sales pitch this type of predatory behavior is twice as bad. Tell the relative that if they really cared about you that they should donate whatever they are selling since you can't afford it yourself. I bet that will get them out of your hair quickly.

There was a local newspaper story about a uninsured woman with end stage leukemia not being able to afford her medicines and they had a photo of all her pill bottles. Included were 5 different types of products that I know had to cost her about 4-500. a month. If I knew I was dying I would want to know I wasn't just providing a income stream for some greedy parasite.

Just politely tell them to leave you alone. Listen to the doctor. There are no such things as magic water or magic pills that will make your cancer go away. All this was pretty much invented by scammers and people who believe that doctors are out to make money by torturing people.
I interned in a cancer lab last year. There are a lot of researchers who have seriously researched all these 'magic' things and the research says that these thing do nothign to cancer.
if these "magic" things really worked every doctor would be using them.
Good Luck!
I hope you recover!

Wow, that sounds like a rough situation. Maybe just thank them for the advice, tell them you appreciate their concern, but then let them know very firmly that you've decided on a course of action regarding your health and you'd like them to support that. I'm not sure there's anything else you can do. Good luck and I hope you have a full recovery.

You will probably be a part of the medical Vietnam if you continue to listen to regular doctors. Countries all over the world already now that the body can cure itself if you give what it wants. The body does not want oxidative stress, inflammation, toxicity, acidosis and vitamin mineral deficiencies. All of these factors are found in the 80 degenerative diseases ( cancer, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, arthritis) It is all about money big hospa, big pharma, big docta, big agra. If you do not believe me look at the comparative guide to nutritional supplements. Centrum is crap many companies are crap there is no money in natural cures compared to big Conglamirita.

Yes i can say that i have. I am currently fighting cancer myself, and have had people tell me about different pills, or juice, etc that is supposed to help boost your immune system, cure cancer etc. Normally i just smile, say thanks for telling me about it etc. The thing with this stuff is how well is it tested? it may or may not interact with treatment your doctor is giving you. Perhaps try talking to these people and tell them that yes, you realize that they are concerned, and just want you to get better, and that they feel these things may help you etc, but it is against your doctors advise, and that it may or may not interact with the stuff your doctor is doing for you. As well, it is not something you want to try. Basically in summation, when talking with them, try to acknowledge and recongnize their concern and worry, tell them you dont want to use this stuff, and that you need support and loved ones through this experience, and would rather not fight or have problems because of this.

I've never experienced this myself, so I can only imagine how terrible it must be. Please try to stay strong and explain to everyone that you are going to do what is best for you.
