There are so many electric toothbrushes out there now, it is really hard to answer that question. First, I would like to say that research consistently shows that electric toothbrushes remove more plaque than manual brushes. I reccomend them to patients everyday. My personal favorite is the Sonicare Elite. I've never had a patient try it that didn't like it. I have seen the difference it makes - less plaque, less bleeding gums...less gingivitis. Oral-B has a ton of electric toothbrushes to choose from. I do not like the Oral-B sonic brush (just my opinion). The Oral-B Triumph is the new top of the line brush. Research shows that the oscillating-rotating techonology of many of the Oral-B brushes works the best (these usually have a round tip with bristles), but many patients like the feel of a "sonic" brush. So good luck finding one that's for you.

If you brush too hard, they can cause damage. You don't have to use any pressure with an electric brush. Just hold the brush against your teeth and let the brush do the work. No scrubbing. Just move the brush around to each tooth.

I got one for Christmas (braun). Its good but I prefer a normal toothbrush because it never runs out of batteries and my arm is much stronger that the electrical motor in the electric toothbrush so I can actually brush my teeth properly.

I used to love my Sonicare, but it didn't do a good job when I got braces, so I switched to a Braun Oral-B.
They are both good brushes for people without braces, and give excellent results. But I find the Sonicare is messier and takes a bit more practice to use. My braces are off now, but I'm still using the Oral-B. I like it better and I think it is easier to clean the backside of my front, lower teeth with the Oral-B.
In any brush, look for the feature that protects you from brushing with too much pressure. (The brushes I mentioned both have this.)

Hi
Well let me tell you one thing, it's important and i think it might be useful for you... My dentist told me electric toothbrushes are good for one time every couple of months, only once, cause they spin so fast that when we add pressure on them on our teeth, the pressure is so much if we use them too much we wear the enamel constantly, that;s a reason why electric toothbrushes are not supported by dental institutions. I have one, but since my dentist told me that I use it once in a while.

None of them. Patients often over due it with them and have more problems with recession over the years. Stick to a soft bristled brand name brush from the drugstore. Cheaper and more reliable.
