My husband and I are married filing jointly and we had a baby in 2006. our gross income equaled $37,593.86 together He had $1117.39 federal withheld and I had $633.05 federal withheld. Our daycare expenses were about $2000.00 and we had no other income our anything like that so about how much do you think we should get back? I know you cant give me an exact amount but somewhere in the ballpark maybe?

I calculated it manually rather than with the H&R calculator, and come within a couple dollars of fool in the rain. I think the response prior to that one forgot the child care credit and the telephone excise tax credit.

I got around $1406. Unless you or your husband contributed to a 401k, should be pretty accurate. I'm not sure where the person above me got $806. Who knows?

I went to www.hrblock.com as well and used their estimator and got this answer.
