lol. I personally believe that being an Atheist would feel a ton better. I'd have no reason to not sleep around, spend large amounts of money on things, stuff myself until I'm fat, lay around all of the time, not work, do drugs, etc etc.
As a Catholic I have to accept that I am always going to be an imperfect being. I have taken measures to try and avoid this but it's VERY hard. Being a Catholic is not a way to "feel good".
Am I miserable? The idea of being with God in the Kingdom of Heaven after my death makes anything bearable.
Atheism = feel good religion. Real Catholicism = a religion where you give up yourself and any personal desires for God.
I do not believe people who are just Christian because they like they idea of God are really Christian at all. Actual Christians/Catholics are few and far between. We suffer in our daily lives. Check out the Saints who wore hair shirts and people now who wear a cilice (I have considered many times wearing one myself). Self mortification in order to avoid committing sin is not very comfortable.
A life without sin is not very desirable to many, the life is hard, but what comes in the end is worth anything. So in the end, to you a Catholic life should be suffering, not enjoyable. Suffer for God on earth, avoid sin, don't pleasure yourself over God, and in the end get the gift of Heaven and eternal happiness. We are here to prove ourselves worthy of his love.

I don't say I believe in God. I say I am of the opinion that there is a god. From what I understand about the thin edge on whch the universe had to be created in order to sustain life, I think it is reasonable to conclude that a hand guided the first moments of the universe. The god I 'believe' in is of no comfort since it does not know that we exist. Its creation was the universe and we are just a biproduct.

Sometimes it does make me miserable. Especially when I'm denying my will in order to do His.
Nothing wrong with feeling good about God, but anyone who only has those feelings can't know the real deal.
God is about death to self and that just plain sucks sometimes.

Who said believing in (the True) God will make you feel good?
Jesus said “I came to cause division, with a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a young wife against her mother-in-law”? Jesus added: “A man’s enemies will be persons of his own household.” (Matthew 10:35, 36)
I am miserably/wickedly spoken of by distant relatives just because I stood firm in believing in Jehovah...family-relationship wise, iam miserable but spiritually I am healthy that I found the truth.

It does at times. That's why I believe in him. Because when I can see how miserably I fall short of the glory of God then I can understand why he loved me enough to send his only begotten son to pay the penalty for my sin to reconcile me back to himself, because I can not do it on my own.
