The age doesn't matter. Texas has no state income tax, so only Federal income tax is involved. Your state does not change your federal taxes. The personal exemption for each dependent is $3,300. This is the amount your taxable income is reduced, not the amount your taxes are reduced. You did not give enough information to determine if you are eligible to file as 'head of household', which would increase your standard deduction over filing 'single'. It is also impossible to determine if you are eligible for a child tax credit or EIC without more information. Even if we knew your actual tax liability and EIC amount, your refund would depend on how much was withheld.
