There is no scientific evidence to support the idea that standing beside a microwave will cause cancer or that food cooked by a microwave causes cancer.
No one knows what causes some people to have cancer while another does not. Not enough studies have been done on low levels of microwave emittance to really know if it has the potential to cause cancer.
The best thing to do than, is to not stand in front of the microwave on a regular basis.
As far as eating microwaved food . . you could spend your entire life avoiding things like this . . relax, it really does not seem to be a huge issue. . in other words, plenty of people are eating microwaved foods and are not getting cancer.

The ability for a microwave to cause cancer isn't really meaningfully significant in terms of most of the rest of our environment. Yes, microwaves are capable of disrupting normal cellular patterns. However, so are cell phone and television signals, anything cooked over 100 degrees celcius, and air.

When you open up a microwave while running it gives off radiation. I don't think that it would cause cancer but who knows they say everything causes cancer.

I heard that. And, I never stood next to the microwave when I was pregnant. I don't really know if it's true though.
Best wishes

Microwaves don't emit radiation if they're made properly; because the mesh netting you see in most of the windows creates an inverse Faraday cage, through which radiation cannot escape.
