No. Of course not. He wants you to do it because it makes him feel important.... Goes along with the worship thing.

For the same reason you tell your spouse you love them. They know you love them. You made a committment to them, and Im sure you show them all the time.
Its an outward showing of your faith.
Also, If there wasnt prayer, a lot of people would not confess, would not ask for forgiveness and wouldnt even bother bringing up the bad things in their lives. It is a way to wipe the chalkboard clean so to speak. Its theraputic as well, which God also knew.

prayer is really about having a personal relationship with God. You are right to say that God knows our thoughts and heart but He desires to communicate with us, through His Word and prayer.

You don't, its just a tradition. It makes sense that this super being has the ability, since it created thought, to know what all of us are thinking or saying at all times, whether or not we go through this ritual called prayer.

A question I've posed many times.
Also, why the need for flamboyant, charismatic group displays?
If he's omniscient, He can receive our thoughts "loud and clear." No need for the hands-in-the-air, weeping joy thing.
But, whatever turns you on, you know.
Different strokes.......

Prayer is about making a relationship with God...not about whether you need to convey information or not.

How do you get closer to a person? Knowing his name and all you share your thoughts, ask questions, spend time and so on...prayer and bible study are ways of knowing God...although you speak to him and he speaks to you only through the bible, be assured youll learn each other well...

Praying is talking to God as you would talk to a person in the same room who you could see. It's a revelation of your own thinking to yourself also. And, it's a continual acknowledgment of him.

Omniscience as traditionally construed would make conversation pretty boring, wouldn't it.
