Well then - 'foreigners' who offend in the UK should be deported to their homelands - wherever that is - straight after being found guilty in our courts. Offences against our laws should not mean we have to pay to feed and house foreign criminals for years.
If the Home Office had deported the hundreds of foreign criminals after their court cases found them guilty, instead of accidentally releasing them into our society from prison recently, that would have freed up thousands of places. Add all the other foreign criminals currently in our jails or running loose on our streets and deport them too and we should have enough provision for British criminals.
We also need to secure our coastal borders and restore our once excellent 'Coastguard Service' to prevent illegal entry by sea of people and drugs into the UK.
If the objective of any government policy is to reduce all types of crime, then if their aims and objectives are being achieved we would be closing prisons not building 18 new ones!
Does anyone know the % of foreign nationals in our prisons? Maybe the Home Office have this statistic - just so long as it's not 10 years out of date!
Until the purpose of crime is identified for each criminal and until the criminals problems are solved, crime will continue.
It's nearly 30 years ago now since the Labour Government decided in their wisdom that young people leaving school without a job should be paid £25 a week to keep off the unemployment register and get paid to be trained! This was the start of the undermining of 'parental control' and today's young parents are those youngsters - now with their own spoiled, materialistic and often irresponsible children. I used to say 'We'd better look after these young people because one day they will be running our country when we are old and grey!'
What is really sad is that all criminals have natural aptitudes and abilities and potential - they just haven't had the opportunity to realise these and keep on the right side of the dividing line between acceptable and unacceptable behaviour.
Politicians and Governments are responsible for the moulding of the society and environment we live in - and until they stop governing by votability we are doomed!

Well Labour didn't see that coming did they ! but then they never saw a lot of things coming. it's OK to say better education, but that takes years to solve the problem, and the problem is here and know. the three things that will solve the problem is 1) better policing 2) better education 3) parents taking responsibility for their children. until all these are in place the problems will continue. To solve the problem today is to make the sentencing much harder and bring in the prison ships that the government is talking about. use old military camps and a hard environment once they are locked up, make it that bad, that no prisoner want to return.

A large proportion of prisoners have mental health problems and should not be in prison but in a psychiatric unit, others are illegal immigrants who have been caught for committing an offence should they not be locked up in some security unit and should young boys be locked away with hardened criminals.
Maybe if they organised themselves properly they may find that the prisons are not so overcrowded.

No, plane mode isn't silent mode. In silent mode the phone is anticipated to artwork yet no longer make noise (ring, key tones, notification tones) at the same time as on plane mode the phone does no longer enable any of the radios to artwork (i.e. it behaves as if no SIM card is for sale) therefore allowing you to apply the PDA area of a telephone even contained in the plane, the position otherwise using the phone is unlawful via worry of radio interference. My suggestion is to not in any respect use the plane profile and at the same time as contained in the plane ask the flight attendants even if using the phone in that mode is secure. As for some thing else of your lengthy tale (I actually have not examine all of it) I actually have few words for you: examine the person's guide, a tree become killed to have that revealed so the least you would possibly want to do is examine it once.

I agree in principal with what you say. Mind you the police cells in the police station I was stationed in were pretty grim. I wouldn't like to spend much time in there. No sky t.v. Just loads of graffiti on the walls to keep you occupied. The bedding wasn't up to much either. Well they were only supposed to be there for a short stay. The food from the canteen was pretty good, cheap to. Well free to the prisoners. I would imagine these cells would be contravening their human rights for a long stay. ! ! ! ! ! Too good for them anyway that's my opinion.

How about better parenting! Then some of these delinquents wouldn't go off the rails in the first place. Banging people up isn't the answer, public humiliation is! Bring back the stocks so we can all throw rotten tomatoes at them and their parents!! Shame them all.

the islands are nice, you want to send em to the bahamas? or have them spoil the islands? without gaurds they could build a boat or maybe a friend would pick them up. too little gaurds and they'd take over, could send in the riot squad but that would just mean sending them to some violent island and occassionally killing them all. not exactly 'corrections'

Put murderers, phaedophiles, rapists and violent criminals on an island. That will free up a bit space for the others.

Perhaps a few lifers could be executed, to make more space. Their bodies could be used to feed other prisoners, saving more money.
