Yes. The Holy Bible cover to cover. King James combined with Matthew Henry Commentary, Strong's Exhaustive Concordance, free Lexicons and Dictionaries and Encyclopedias and other fine articles on history by Alfred Edersheim at Studylight.org should take you a long way. Pray as you read and first get rooted and grounded in sound doctrines from the types and shadows of the old covenant, especially the first five books of the Bible, and you will then have a greater understanding of the entire Bible. See how they each parallel with Christ in the new covenant writings.
Books on the manners and customs of the Jews give me a greater understanding of the Bible as well as several written about the Tabernacle, Priesthood, Furniture and Offerings (what Alfred Edersheim writes about) and then wait for God to let us know what we need to in the time we need to. It will be sealed until we need to understand it.
Pray for wisdom. Lean not to your own understanding.
In due time, the Spirit will give us the words to speak before the counsils and which way to go and what to do. Those who are led of the spirit shall be called the sons of God. Seek the Spirit which will lead you into all truth. Without faith it is impossible to please God. If you understand all knowledge and all mysteries and have not charity, it profits nothing so seek charity above all things.
Man's opinions are a dime a dozen but sound doctrine from God's Word is invaluable. When reading man's opinions, if it doesn't exalt Christ, it isn't of the right spirit.
