Because recently becoming pregnant and being unable to get my usual perm I've been checkin out natural hairstyles and I've decided to embrace the hair type I was born with but where can I find help for hair in transition?

You can wear your hair in two strand twists. While twisted you can put rollers in and then wear your hair curly, or braid the twist and then take the braids out for a crinkled look. I like to french braid my twists, for a sophisticated look.

Cornrows, individual braids, afro, bone straight with a pressing comb... I have been natural all my life (never permed) and yet I can wear any hair style I like. It just takes patience and a strong determination not to get your hair wet. Water is my Kryptonite!

If you still want to wear you hair straight but cannot figure out how to work a pressing comb, invest in a quality ceramic or jade flat iron. I'd suggest the Brand Hot Tools. Just remember to use an oil or pressing grease to protect your hair. Moisture (not necessarily water) is key to natural hair upkeep.

Check with your stylist for someone who specializes in hair braiding if she/he does not offer this service. It would not hurt to ask them for references of past customers also. Some women are very sensitive to braids so make sure your hair is in good condition before you have it done.

During the summer I give my hair a break by going without relaxers; I wet my hair and use a moisturizing type gels that will not harden it. I don't know if your hair will naturally curl up like mine, but it is another option. I hope this helps.

That's a really good question. I'm not familiar with a web site, but I have been natural for some time. I just wash, oil, and fluff (sometimes I might comb). I'm happy to hear that you're embracing self!!
