My mom says i shouldn't go out with this one guy I like because she doesn't think it would work out. We are best friends and I think he has a crush on me too. My friends say your mom is not the one going out with him but she has been right about this kind of stuff before.

Parents like to protect their children... Parents usually have more experience than the children in dating and love. But yet, parents are NOT always correct. Never presume your mother is wrong because she is old or "could not know". Consider what your mother offers honestly but live YOUR life... you will most likely get hurt at some point, be strong and recover, it is not the end of your life.

Well your mom has your best interest and if this guy is your best friend and you start dating and it doesnt work wouldnt that mess up your friendship? Plus your friends they dont know they just want to see if it works out or not and in the end if it doesnt you will say your mom was right.

Experience teaches wisdom. Sometimes people outside the situation can see things the people in the situation can't. If you want to see the guy, see him, but don't get too serious. feel him out for a while, even if he's a good friend.

Tell her that you like him and your the one dating him, not her.So you have every right to choose who you want to date. And then ask her how does she know it won't work out. Tell her your your own person and you can choose who you want to date.
