Cheesecake can be all three. When I say all three it is a pie when it is uncooked...like the ones with jello thickening it or the ones that are just cream cheese and sugar. It is a cake when it is cooked there are lots of ways to cook it as well...and it is a pudding when it doesn't have a crust. There are a few that are just the filling either cooked or not and a topping...that is the pudding. Hope that helps.

A real cheesecake is actually more of a custard. It solidifies because the eggs in the mixture coagulate when it bakes. Although a pudding is not a bad answer either, a custard is very
similar to a pudding.
For anybody that says its a cake because its in the name, you cant simply go by a name to define what food is. Afterall, if you have a shellfish allergy, why can you still eat Rocky Mountain Oysters? Oysters are shellfish, right?

It is kind of pie like, but then cheesepie just doesn't sound right. What exactly is a cake, then?
