There's no cure, but there's treatments that halt the deterioration of your joints. First you find out type of gout you have. They need to take a sample of the joint fluid to see if its uric acid crystals which means gout; or calcium crystals, which means pseudo- gout. Then generally your doctor refers you to a rhuematologist. They can stop an attack, but you want to stop further bouts so you can minimize the joint destruction. There's a lot of new drugs on the market, but it takes time for them to kick in. I don't know about the diet except it's all the good stuff they want you to forsake. Go to premium beer on the docs orders and it's a tax write-off.

I actually just read that cherries help gout. In that doctor colum in the newspaper. I have it in my big toe. It really does hurt. I haven't tried the cherries yet. Expensive and my kids would want to eat them all up.
