I would live in Hong Kong because life in Hong Kong is way more exciting. I've lived in both places and I think Hong Kong is better. Yes, there is better air quality in Canada and health care is free, but the taxes are high and I remember seeing statistics that show people's life expectancies of different countries and people of Hong Kong tend to live longer than people of Canada. Now to answer your question with more relevant details...living expenses are high in Canada. You need to pay a lot of taxes and things tend to be expensive. On the other hand, you don't pay G.S.T when you buy stuff in Hong Kong and everything is so inexpensive! If you want high quality products, you can also find it in Hong Kong. Everything in Hong Kong is more new and trendy too. The living conditions in Hong Kong really depends on where you live. Some apartments are horrible and located in very dense areas and some are okay. I think many people think Canada's living conditions are better (larger houses, less densely populated, etc.) BUT it can also be very inconvenient. Without a car, you can't really go anywhere. The public transportation systems are horrible in Canada. In Hong Kong, you go outside your apartment and you will see many restaurants and stores around you. The transportation system in Hong Kong (especially the MTR) is very efficient and you can go anywhere you like. Hong Kong got way better entertainment than Canada. Unless you're in major cities, there is nothing much to do in Canada. In Hong Kong, you can shop, eat (tonnes and tonnes and tonnes of restaurants), go to bars, visit the many tourist attractions in HK, etc. In Canada, you don't really want to go anywhere since it's so inconvenient and in the winter it's so cold. Work environment, income, and opportunities: There are a lot of opportunities in Hong Kong and many large corporations have headquarters in Hong Kong! Also, Hong Kong is part of China now so HK is full of opportunities. You earn more money in Hong Kong I believe. In Canada, the more you earn the more you pay (income taxes!).

So in conclusion, if you don't mind the not so good air quality of Hong Kong and the density of buildings and people, Hong Kong is better than Canada in many aspects. For sure, there are more opportunities in Hong Kong and everyday is an exciting day in Hong Kong! In Canada, everyday seems the same. So live your life to the fullest and live in Hong Kong if you have a chance! The average Canadians tend to be very satisfied with the calm, slow and repetitive way of life because they've never experienced cities lk Hong Kong, Tokyo, etc. Answer to your question: I would live in HONG KONG, Asia's World City!

Hong Kong is better for job and opportunity. as you know, Canada doesn't have much job, and you hardly have chance to go business too. Hong Kong is next to CHina, and you can have much chance with it, and you can hold HK passport to travel easily. canada has too high tax, and you can't able to efford a maid. if you live in HK, you can have maid, never need to cook and things, also you can travel more. HK people travel other places much more than Canada, Canadian mostly drive to other states or flight to Las Vegas ot New York for short vacation.

after i graduated from the stae, i got a working permit right away, but i did not even use it. i just went back to Hong Kong for good. it is more important to feel that you can pay yoru bill and have a nice living after graduated, not thinkig about insurance and so much loan.

I'd live in Hong Kong. Better living conditions, economy, better everything than Canada and the US. Where would I live? Either on the Peak, Mt. Kellett, or the Mid Levels. Economy? It's the freeest in the world! Entertainment? You name it - they've got it. Income? Hard to answer that one because I don't know your profession.

Well, living conditions are much better in Canada...air is clean, streets are not congested, variety of places to go for entertainment, homes are nicer, etc...
vs.
Hong Kong.....air is poor...hard to breath, streets way too narrow with too many people, Hong Kong is all about eating and shopping, not much else, living area is small with little or no yard.

I would recommend living in Canada and visit Hong Kong once a year since shopping paradise and eatery are awesome there. Kong business are open all day and all night ...great place to visit on your vacation....I've been traveling to Hong Kong once to twice per year..i LOVED IT

Well, HK is an extremely exciting place and you will never feel bored as there are thousands and thousands of shops everywhere offering millions of products and services to spoil you : food , restaurants, clothing, computers, DVDs, handphones, electronic gadgets ... All these with the latest models, fashion, trend, most advanced technology , fresh from the factory around the world. Furthermore, there is no goods and sales tax, so you always buy much cheaper than elsewhere around the world. You have great value for money. Still want more ? well you can go north into China where things especially food, housing, transport, massage services, are even cheaper - you'll be spoiled like a king. If you like nature, there are thousands of them. Of course beware of roberries and pick pockets.

Tired of city life ? Well you can have a day off in remote islands off Saigon .

Jobs are easy to find in HK as it is already a dynamic city and it is next to the booming economy of China.

Public transport is so convenient in HK that I have given up my mind of buying myself a car (which brings lots of inconvenience : parking, lots of fees to pay here and there...). Housing in HK is small and expensive , realistically like every big cities that depends on the location. There are cheap houses too - in more remote areas.

Canada's air is clean and the houses are bigger and the lifestyle is much slower. However there are so few people in such a large country that life is too monotonous and boring ! Everyday, shops close at 7 pm, you hardly see people on the streets. That's worst in winter where the temp drops to minus 30 deg C. Sundays shops are close. Only a few stay open but they have few things to offer.

Public transport is very inconvenient, there are hardly any taxis on the roads, the buses will stop services at 10 pm. If you buy a car, you got to incur the cost of owning a car : road taxes, petrol, insurance, maintenance, depreciation .... That's expensive and on top of all this the local goods and sales tax is very high, applies to the petrol too. No wonder there are hardly people going for restaurants during outings or at tourist attraction spots.

Jobs are very hard to find, as there are few factories operating there and very few commercial activities taking place. Depending on your salary, it is common that almost half of your income goes to income taxes and not including the goods and sales tax.
Medical is free, but the money comes from the high taxes that you pay. It's just like buying insurance, if you do not fall sick, you don't get the benefit of the coverage.

Well, it all depends on your capabilities, your finance, personality and what you look for in life : a slow life or a dynamic and interesting life ?

For me, I pick HK !
