Well, you get to strap your @ss to an acme rocket built by the lowest bidder and perform the "RoadRunner Thrust Move"(stolen from the movie Armageddon). You get to experience space flight, zero gravity, and all the other cool stuff they get to do up there.

The benefits are the same as any other federal job. If the person is still military, they fall under the military benefits. If the person is just a civilian federal employee of nasa, then they enjoy those benfits.
