He very well could have. Angels moved the stone to prove to witnesses that Jesus was no longer among the dead! Glory to God! He Is Risen!

Ever visit a grave? Do you dig up the person? NO!!!
Logic tells us that Mary was going to pay her respects and, had the stone NOT been rolled away she would have visited the grave and not ever known the difference at all. Instead, with the stone rolled away she instantly knew that something had happened. Furthermore, If the tomb remained closed then people could claim that Jesus was not risen, but really some displaced spirit. Having access to the tomb lent credibility to the concept that Jesus had risen IN body.

To let others in..
It was an entrance not an exit that the angel was creating. It was necessary for the women and others to see that the tomb was empty.

He could have walked through it. The stone wasn't removed for Him but so that others could go in and see that He wasn't there. That's why the angels told the women to see the place where He had been so they could know that He had risen.

He wanted everyone to see that he was gone. Jesus could have walked through, but Mary Madeline and Peter could not.
