Is there any reason that questioners and respondents cannot give their opinion and use "I feel" or "I think" statements instead of absolutes?

Have you considered how much better people might respond to...."My viewpoint is there is no God?" or "I truly believe God does exist"?

Obviously we represent a large variety of different world beliefs and positions regarding spirituality and no one expects everyone to agree...just be decent.

I absolutely agree with you. I do try to do so, but sometimes I screw up. I have been rude..by my own admission..I HAVE BEEN RUDE TO OTHERS WHO ARE NOT LIKEMINDED and have felt bad about it too, 98 % of the time....usually those rude answers or "beliefs" come from the root of having a personal bad day and what ever......
Then, I end up feeling hell-A **MORE** salty when I get docked the points for it...SO....I do agree dear, we need to all just be decent.
As for what you said that immediately preceded the plea for decency......"I believe: that JESUS, my LORD, is just as annoyed and displeased with the UTTER LACK OF
U N I T Y among the so-called brethren, or BODY of CHRIST!"............

We need to just call a truce....and "I believe" the decent dialogue between the athiests and the Christians would improve dramatically if, when the Xians try to share JESUS in a tone, and spirit of LOVE and genuine concern, (for we have the Great Commission on our shoulders you see: Matthew 28:18-20)......if the athiests and non X'ians would atleast be decent enough to say "Hey, thanks, but no thanks"...and really acknowledge that we do this out of REAL concern for the eternal placement of souls....for our loved ones, and strangers alike.....

I have heard of so many, many, many sincere testimonies of folks on the brink of death, and also those who have "clinically: DIED", and how the LORD delivered them to HELL for a time, to come back and give testimony of the reality of this place of eternal pain, and horrid, horrid creatures that torment every second for all eternity. IT IS HIGHLY FASCINATING, and whats more -----> all of these unrelated incidents have produced the same exact testimonies. I "personally believe" these to be true accounts of hell, and they likewise line up with scripture. I "personally believe" with great heart ache, that no one should end up there- and I believe that any genuine loving X'ian has this burden upon them to save what we call "the lost"......those who reject Jesus Christ.

Anyhow.....ultimately, I agree with you, and just wanted to say so. Sorry for going in another direction there a few times---
Be well and GOD BLESS YOU!~

Good point but I don't think it's necessary to be so PC here. It's pretty much a "given" that it's the individual's belief and just them stating it in an absolute way isn't going to shake the faith or beliefs of others. At least it doesn't affect mine.

Given that I am expressing the statement, one should naturally assume this is my viewpoint, belief, or opinion, unless you know I am an expert in the field.

Anyone can be wrong.

Thank you. I almost asked this question, then figured it wasn't worth it. I agree with you. When people say "I know God exists" or "I know God does not exist" I hate it. You can't "know" that because they can't both be right. I would prefer if people used "I believe...". "Know" implies knowledge. It's not like believers took an extra credit course to learn more than non-believers, or vice versa. It's a belief. That's it. Not a fact.

I totally agree. I always try to start out like that.

"It is my understanding" or "I believe" or "I think"

Rather than "The bible says" or "God says".

Even though I do believe for those reasons, it is my opinion that most people are asking for on here.

I truly believe God does exist.

On the other hand, "I think" on a lot of subjects, and "I feel" as well, why couldn't I state my opinion?

A person may be stating what is a fact in their belief system and would not say "I think or I feel". Speaking for myself as a Christian I know in my heart the reality of the Christian faith and Jesus is very real to me.

That would be very nice. I think a lot of offense comes from people on both sides rhetorically imposing our views on each other. That's a very irritating and disrespectful approach, and it doesn't work anyway.

I do not live in a world of absolutes. So I have always assumed that when someone speaks they are speaking their own truth and not necessarily my truth.
