My hair is long and no matter what i do, it gets frizzy, poofy, and dull looking. My hair is thin to normal and it always poofs out after i blow dry it. My hair is straight, but not pin straight. I like to straighten it, but i dont really mind if it has some wave. What I really want is it to be healthier and smoother. I heard that olive oil and mayo work well in your hair, but i dont know exactly how to do that.

Please help!!!

Any tips on smoother, shinier, or healthier hair would help.

Thanks!!!!!

This morning on the Today Show, they had a woman who indicated taking a multivitamin a day will help with both hair and nails. But she cautioned that you have to be patient since hair growth is only 1/2 inch to an inch per month.

In the meantime, try not to overprocess it. Blowdrying too often can cause damage if you don't use products that protect your hair. Try Matrix or Biolage they both have great thermal protectors.

And to smooth the ends of your hair use a straightening iron no more than twice a week!

Finish off with a good serum to help with any frizz like one from Alfaparf.

Although some of these products seem expensive, keep in mind to use them in moderation and that they are worth every penny in comparison to drug store brands b/c they ACTUALLY WORK!

A couple of suggestions from a no-longer- frizzy friend:

The brand Redken makes a product called Rewind 06 for about $15. Put this in your hair when it is 3/4 to fully dry. THEN straighten. I works GREAT for me. I like it because it does NOT leave your hair the least bit crunchy and you can also play with your hair for volume ANY time of the day and it works again without re-applying :)

Don't go broke on your shampoo! Use Head and shoulders...its smells great and works for me! Splurge a little more than suave on the conditioner. I like Treseme :)

Leave in conditioners are great! Dove makes nice hair products that are not drying.

Don't forget to give your hair a break from that straightener!
Want it wavy? Me too but I couldn't get it to stay in control! Like evenly.
Try this...Put Redken rewind (or if you wanna go cheaper try a "pomade" type product by Garnier Fructis) in your semi-damp hair...scrunch just a bit in large clumps...(hold it in a tight fist up and against your head for a moment).
Then once you let it dry completely (I know it takes extra time)...take a small barrel curling iron and put just a few (3-4 on each side) spiral curls in your hair. Putting the pomade product helps set the curl.
Now gently drag your fingers through the curls to blend. If you feel your need additional curls go for it! :) You would think this would frizz it up, but it actually calms my hair down and puts order to it :)
Now spray with a bit of hairspray if you feel the need! and voila!
Hope this helps!!

P.S. ONE Vitamin E every couple of days will help with the health too :) And a balance diet...plus water is your best overall health friend! Just don't overdo it on the Vitamin E pills because that is bad for you!

I use Citre Shine "shine mist" when I am done styling my hair. It makes your hair very shinny and healthy it puts oils back into your scalp and hair, which are diminished when you blow dry or curl your hair. Depending on the length of your hair you should only need a few squirts in your palm. My hair is long so I use about 5 to 6 squirts in my palm and then rub it through my hair. You will notice a difference the first time you use it. Also the product is not very expensive.

Good luck.

Start off by having a really good cut, and ask your hairdresser to straighten your hair after blowdrying it. She should put balm and heat protection products which you will be able to see how it is applied. You can normally buy these products from the salon, which stop frizzing and make your hair look shiney, without looking greasy. GHD straighteners are a really good brand and cost about £100.00, but do use heat protection products or you will get a lot of split ends and damage.

I have the same problem and I have found a product called "Rusk Shining" works great! After I straighten it, I spray the Rusk Shining lightly over my hair and it takes away the frizz and makes it shiny! You can find it in most hair salons. Hope this helps!
