Sainsburys has some nice stuff, but is expensive, so out of the two, Tesco.

The advantage of Tesco is sheer size; there is a store near me which not only does a massive range of food, but seems to sell everything else as well, from electricals to household and cookware.

It is true that some may see Tesco as a bit downmarket, but there are different ranges to appeal to different customers, from the value range (ultra cheap and questionable quality), to "finest", which is supposed to be posh.

Deep down, however, my favourite is Morrisons. I like the layout of the store, the sections are split in to specialist areas, like butchers or bakery. I found that the Christmas food looked a lot nicer than the stuff at Tesco, as well.

I love Sainsbury's, their nappies are great and so are the offers. They also do value stuff like Tesco, but they do REALLY nice stuff too. I actually shop at Asda which I prefer to Tesco, but I have to say Sainsbury's is probably the best out of all three.

Waitrose is my absolute favourite though!

Hi Farrelle,
I suppose it depends on where you live.
I have a vast Tesco in Baldock, just 2 miles out of the village, and you could get easily lost in the emporium.
Howevever, everything is nicely priced, from fresh fish to digital cameras.
Conversely, my nearest Sainsbury's in Letchworth is crud.
The stock is always very near it's sell by date, the staff are fed up,
so I give up.
The local Co-Op is excellent, with all that you would need, apart from those dodgy washing machines near the door.
Oh and the photo booth that always surprises me by shouting - "Please adjust your seat" every time I go in through the door.
So, from my humble point of shopping experience, in these parts, Tesco is the winner.
Sorry Mr. John Sainsbury, but there you go.
Oh, met the bloke once, and he was so smarmy in attitude, I am not suprised at the outcome of his retail establishments.
Mr. Tesco in is in a different league.
what was it ? Tea Export something Company)
Fair play.

Bob.

I prefer Tesco's - I think Sainsbury's sells the same stuff for more money. Of course living in a posh town we only have a Sainsburys so I grudgingly have to go in there when we run out of milk etc.

The Tesco here is huge and has brill clothes and is open 24 hours. If you can't buy it in Tesco I don't think you need it. although I always buy more food when I go into Sainsbury cos it always looks better.

Sainsburys rocks! I get a staff discount there too!

I like Tesco for when I'm on a budget though, the clubcard points rule!!!

Hard to tell, where I live we are poorly catered for regarding access to big supermarkets.

Tesco is in the nearest town centre next to the bus station so it is crawling with slow-moving deaf selfish pensioners and you have to pay 70p+ for the car park, Sainsbury is further away, doesn't have nearly as many old people and a free car park but really rubbish stock control i.e. a third of the things you go in for are missing. Asda is furthest away still and has nicer staff but is full of shell-suited hoop-earring wearing schemie peasant/chavscum grandmothers who glare at you for looking middle class. Generally we go to Sainsbury but often end up having to go elsewhere for the things they hadn't bothered to replace on the shelves. That's Kirkcaldy for you. They maybe do things better outside Gordon Brown's constituency.

I go to Tesco more cause I'm more familiar with it and have a clubcard but then again I go to Sainsburys if I want a change and can use my nectar card there.

Of those two I prefer Sainsburys because it sells nicer things, but my wallet prefers Tesco which sells cheaper things.
