I am trying to throw a little concert series in different neighborhoods in chicago, with all money made I will donate 100% of the proceeds to the youth home in that area. Since I am donating all the money that means i will spend money witth out gaining. I dont have a problem with that but, I am afraid i will not have enough money. This is the first time I ever did anything like this and realy dont know how to go about asking local stores etc. to sponsor me. Does anyone have any tips or help they can give me?

Yep - Heres what you do - Call up your local kid friendly radio station - tell them you like to do a small spot and ask for funds, when they say no - remember it - and go to the not kid friendly station - ask them - if they say no - go to your local chamber of Commerce - and ask each business there to pledge a mere 200$ - ( should be about 10-30 businesses there) then Ask each business person seperately for more cash.

Oh. get a reciept book - cuz each of the donators will want a recietp and a right to have a presence / ad at the events.

Go to the town hall. They might be able to help set you up with a sponsor and a location to perform. Maybe a liquor store or a real estate agency could sponsor you. Good luck.
