A lot of them contain high amounts of caffiene which isnt good for you. Red bull is actually banned in France from being linked to a few deaths. Mixing Red Bull with vodka is what caused the deaths and is why it is banned Mazz. It was actually banned in a few other places for awhile because of this.

Unless you're grandmother works for the FDA, how would she know (no offense). I don't work for the FDA either but I do read the labels and examine the ingredients. Volt and Red bull have lots of caffeine, calories, carbs, sugar. All that stuff is bad for you. Then again soda is too. However I do know of an energy drink that has none of those but a few calories... about 8 to be exact.

I worked for GNC for about 4 years, and my thoughts are that
Energy drinks, if used wisely, can be included in a healthy diet. It is important not to rely on them for everyday energy, which would normally come from a healthy diet with proper rest and regular excercise. There are many different kinds out there, most of them loaded with as much or more sugar than a regular can of soda. I would say your best bet is to get the "diet" kind, as it has less sugar and fewer calories. Make sure you read all labels, and watch your servings. A 16 oz. can of Rockstar, for example is 2 SERVINGS, so you are getting twice as much as is listed. I would personally reccommend getting Red Bull (it comes in a smaller, 8oz. can) or Rockstar in the 8 oz. can (it may be hard to find). Diet of both varieties is fine.
Your grandma is probably worried that you may abuse them, as so many people do, by relying on them alone to meet energy needs on a regular basis. If you are going to drink them, do so sparingly, as your body can become dependent on the energy they provide, and in turn require more over time to achieve the same effect.

I say yes.
When you drink energy drinks... They don't give you stable energy...meaning it's not consistant.
Just like, if you had a turbo button in your car. You press it, and you go very fast, but after a while, the fuel you had, that could have probably lasted you that whole day was used up in that short moment.
It's forced energy. If you eat right and live a healthy lifestyle, you will have the best energy that will keep you , goin' and goin' and you know...

Go easy on them... one can a day.
I drink Sugar Free Red Bull... 10 calories vice 110 for regular. The B vitamins give me all the neergy I need.
When you mix RB and Vodka, the "up" from the B Vit's and "down" from the alcohol can make you pass out.

Energy drinks are usually just filled with caffeine and sugar - not such good ways to get caffeine. Thy eating a meal with more good carbs or protein to get your energy naturally.

They are not bad for you they just speed up your body's energy production...which can make you jittery an da little woozy...be careful...I consume a few a week, I have asked the DR. before and all is ok...they can make you feel funny!
