Well, it varies but the average for indoor kitties is anywhere from 13-20+ years. However, an outdoor kittie's average lifespan is only 3-5 years :( My mom's kitty Sassy was 22 when she died! They got her the year my mom was born and she died when I was 2 years old! and she had no medical problems! One day she just never woke up. So I think it has a lot to do with breed. Sassy was a little bit of everything I think. Most pure-breds tend to have shorter lifespans than mutt kitties. Genetic diversity a is very important factor.

An indoor only cat that is well taken care of, can live between 15 and 20 years. If you let your cat go outside then his life will be probably be shorter.

Indoor cats will live longer (if you take care of them properly), but it is good for some cats to live outdoors. It all depends on your type of cat (not the breed, but the personality). I'm rambling. Anyway, outdoor cats live around 13-15 years. Indoor cats live a little bit longer. My cats have lived indoor/outdoor all of their lives, and I had one cat that lived until age 18.
