First get to know him by being friends with him and then take one more step.
Since the boy likes you and you are sort of interested in him, getting to know one another shouldn't and won't be akward at all.

you should not rush to have a boyfriend. If you really believe that you need a date for Valentines Day, you should ask him. If people ask you questions tell them you are friends. Even if you don't skate very well. I am sure he does not mind. Give it a shot. Skating is fun and if he is a good young gentleman I am sure her will help you. Good luck

too bad you turned him down about the skating, it would probably have been great for him to teach you how! why not ask him if he could teach you how to skate one day. then you could spend some time together. if you are really interested in him, then you shouldn't care about what people think. good luck!

You should just tell him that you like him. Some people who wait to long loose out on oppertunities and dont get what they want. if you want to be his girlfriend ask him. or if he asks you agin dont tell him no tell him the truth, example-I cant skate to well but i would like to go with you matbe if he knows these things about you he wont ask you to do things that he knows you do not like to do.

I'll say it like this:
Talk to him. It's better to talk to him and find out, than not talk to him and never know.
He may very well like you, but you are on the other side of the pool. Sometimes going into the deep end may show skills you never knew you had. As far as talk topics, talk about whatever. That's how you find out if you have things in common

If you like him and he likes you, TELL HIM. There is nothing you can lose. If you want him just for valentines day, dont do anything. You must truly want him as your boyfriend. And dont care about what other people say. Just do your own thing and ignore the people that bug you about him.

Just walk right up to him and ask him to be yours. It is the 20th Century and girls are asking guys out more and more.
I asked my husband to marry me... (if this helps you be more bold)
You have all the clues that he likes you. And if he turns you down, at least you know that you tried. Be confident about the whole thing.
Say, "I get the feeling that you like me, and I like you, I was wondering if we could date exclusively?"
Good Luck
