Take some corn flour and dilute it in a cup of water, squeeze half a lemon over it and add to the stew,it should do the trick.
Best of luck and happy eating.

THe 2 main methods of tempering the spice are either Dairy or Sweet. Not sure what kind of stew you're making, but if you can add heavy cream or sour cream that should help. The sweet method is usually harder to add as itdoesn't blend in as well, but as others mentioned perhaps a little honey, or more carrots.
Also try serving it with sticky white rice, or a good solid bread, these will help clean the heat from the mouth.

Before you add anything to your Spicy stew you may want to read a bit on what the Scoville scale is, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scoville_scale. If you add anything to your stew you will just have more of what you already have, Spicy Stew. My suggestion is to drain and rinse the solids and start over with the sauce part of the stew, there will be enough capsaisin already cooked into the solids to retain some tolerable heat

Oh, sorry. I usually add 2-3 cans in my stew (not kidding, we love it hot & spicy). There is not anything that will 'remove' the heat from the stew, but you can SERVE it with sour cream and honey on the bread. Drink MILK, NOT WATER -- water will make it much worse. If you can get through this dinner, make another batch with NO jalapenos in it and stir together. You can always freeze indiv. batches.

Do you have enough ingredients to double the recipe? Just make an equal amount and omit the jalepenos. Mix the two batches together and you'll dilute the heat.
If you freeze it it will lose some of the heat. Plus you'll have a great heat & eat meal on a busy day.
Of course, then you'll have to make something else to eat for today....
Sorry, those are my best options.

if there are beans in your stew add some some
add some more cooked carrots / celery/ whatever you already have in there to dilute the taste
serve with sour cream (that really helps with the heat)

Add some acid to counteract the spice. Works well - lemon or lime juice. Add a little at a time. Serving it with lots of bread and milk will help too.

Add a raw potato to it. It will absorb some of the heat right up. Really works.
