DivX is a codec, or a type of compression which makes AVI files take up less space. Some newer DVD players for your TV set will play DivX movies, but many will not. Many AVI files that you download off the internet are compressed with DivX. What you would do is just take the AVI files and a blank CD-R (since you don't have a DVD burner) and use your favourite burning software to make a data CD, and just put all of the AVI's you want or can fit into the root directory. You can then play this in your DivX capable DVD player. If your DVD player doesn't play DivX, then you could burn to CD as a SVCD. The quality wouldn't be as good and you have to have burning software capable of doing it (such as Nero Burning Rom) and it can take awhile to convert from AVI to SVCD before it starts burning. I'd really suggest getting a DivX capable DVD player if you download a lot of divx files if you don't have one already. It will save you a lot of trouble going the SVCD route.
