Please recommend an inexpensive (max $150/night, preferably $100-125) hotel in NYC. Requirements: private bathroom, clean, good location for tourists (we want to spend a lot of time in Times Square and 5th Avenue shopping). Any websites with good last minute deals would also be helpful.

Try the Clarion on Park Avenue & 29th Street. Rooms are really small, but clean and cozy. The subway is just a block away. 2 stops on the subway will get you to Grand Central. From Grand Central, one stop on the Shuttle will take you to Times Square.

Yea, the Plaza, that's a hoot, it has been closed for over a year for remodeling and turning part into condos, plus rooms were about $400 to start. That is a laugh.
As it is last minute, go to hotwire .com put in your price, click what part of NYC you want and the star rating. It works great, got great hotels in LA and New Orleans four stars, for $100 each. Let us know what happens!

First off, the Plaza has been closed since last summer, so that chick probably never set food inside the place.
Go to expedia.com and do a hotel search. They pull up some bargains, and it is really worth a visit to the site. Have fun!

I always stay at the Plaza. It's usually pretty affordable..especially last minute.
