To make momos/ dim sims, you need to steam them using a cane steamer... but i was wondering will they turn out the same if i use a stainless steel steamer??

I own both bamboo and steel steamers. I've found they don't work any differently, but you have to use them differently. My bamboo steamer can fit into any sauce pot. It has a flat bottom. Actually it stacks so it has 3 bottoms. This holds a lot of food. I always line the bottom most steamer tray with cabbage leaves. I think it helps controll the temperature better, but that's probably in my head. My steel steamer only fits into one saucepot because the sides need to be supported to hold all the food nicely. It is easier to lift out of the hot water because of the little ring on the top. I preffer using the steel steamer for food like broccoli, but both work nicely.

yes, the same, all a steamer does is use the water vapour that rises to heat up the dimsum...

You don't need a steamer anyways...just put them on a lettuce leaf on a plate, set plate on one of those mini metal stands in one of those big pots and about 2 inches of water, then bring to boil and set on low heat for about 15-20 mins and they'd be ready to eat.
