Don't you hate it when you're trying to watch T.V. and someone just keeps on talking...????
Just kidding! My husband has done that to me (told me to SHHHH!) and I am learning that I need to find a more opportune time to have discussions. Just a matter of understanding one another's needs.

I've never been shushed, I don't talk if someone is watching the TV with interest. My bf has a bad habit of talking during something I'm watching, I told him that it bothers me because he only does it if it is something he isn't interested in. And I know it drives him crazy if someone is talking while he's watching a movie. It has to go both ways.

No, because it's rude and annoying to talk when the tv or a movie is on and someone is paying attention to it.
My husband does this all the time and I HATE it. Usually he laughs so hard you can't hear the next thing that is said. I always "shhh" him. All I can say is thank goodness for TiVo.

Do some people really need such constant and immediate attention that they can't allow other people to enjoy a TV show? Do you really need such instant gratification that you can't wait until the commercial? It sounds like the people may have even gotten together to watch the show.
What the person is saying is that what you think you need to say is not nearly as important as you think you are.

No, the other way around. I mean when you're at the movie theatre don't you mind if people start talking? If people are watching t.v. they must be interested in what's on and you should respect that, that doesn't mean you're not important. If they want to talk they'll turn it off or not pay attention to it. You are not the center of the universe, you know.

No, because they're trying to watch TV. Put yourself in their position - you're watching TV and someone is trying to talk to you. You want to hear what they're saying on TV so you ask the person to be quiet. It's no ruder to ask someone to be quiet while you're watching TV than it would be if you were in a movie theater and asked someone to be quiet.

Well you were watching the tv, that means it's something they wanna watch and not chat... you should wait with chatting until after the show.
