They could not only help stop and investigate crime and police traffic etc. They could also be a big factor in drug trafficking, illegal immigration, and terrorist cells. They could also work closely with the FBI and other agencies. It would help the country in so many ways and at the same time train our military for things they may encounter in times of war.

No. In order to help protect the rights of the populace, it is illegal to use the military on American soil for domestic purposes.

Trust me, you DON'T want soldiers doing domestic policing.

The name of the relevant act is the The Posse Comitatus Act

The whole text of the relevant legislation is as follows:

Sec. 1385. - Use of Army and Air Force as posse comitatus
"Whoever, except in cases and under circumstances expressly authorized by the Constitution or Act of Congress, willfully uses any part of the Army or the Air Force as a posse comitatus or otherwise to execute the laws shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both".

Kinda late for this question, we already do. SWAT teams suplied with militarty equipment and training and tons of military technology used in standard law enforcement today.

no, we dont have soldiers operating as police because that would imply martial law, but our military definately contributes vast amounts of technology and equipment to local law enforcement already.

If you live in a major metropolitan area, your local SWAT team probably has armoured troop carriers and quite possibly a tank or assault vehicle or 3. Last time I checked nobody needed a tank to to do a traffic stop or investigate a breaking and entering.

No, against Constitution, but has been done by US government against Revolutionary and WW1 vets, and Hawaiians, and native Americans of all tribes.
Force begets force, if a weapon is invented it will be used, and military is too smart to fall for this except General Douglas MacArthur, and Washington.

different than the police stationed in front of a crack abode. seek for the definition for "police state" and then pass to a rustic the place you haven't any longer have been given any rights or freedoms, considering the fact that is strictly what you're offering right here.
