I am planning on putting a memorial tattoo on my wrist for my friend Jeremy who was killed in Iraq. But I also want it to be in memory or all the men/women we lost...... the problem I'm having is coming up with something small enough to put on my wrist! I've been thinking of putting the words "Never forgotten" there (but I don't know how words would turn out after time!) I thought of maybe putting a symbol, but I don't want some huge artwork on my wrist either....... I don't know - I just need some help/opinions!

I like the idea of the dove because it represents peace which is what most people strive for, but I would also try to incorporate the traditional flag/red white and blue colors somewhere on there. Stick with the phrase you like, 'never forgotten' and have an artist help you come up with something that will fit on your wrist.

Instead of having the image go from on side of the wrist to the other, you could also turn it so that it looks more palm to elbow and still keep it small, but easier to fit the design. I hope that makes sense because it seems confusing.

Anyway, good luck with your tattoo.

Great idea, but I'd chose a different location. I have two memorial tattoos. I have a pink ribbon on the side of my ancle with my grandmothers birth and death year above and below it. She died of breast cancer. I have a tattoo of Gary the snail on the top of my foot for a friend who was killed in a car accident. Spongebob was one of our favorite things to talk about at work. I miss them both. A tattoo in a public place can ruin your chances at some jobs. I think a dove with a yellow ribbon would be nice. I wouldn't put a name with it if you want it not just for him but for all who have gone. And I never suggewst getting a name on you unless you're blood related. You should go to the tattoo artist and talk to them. They can help you.

I would call the tattoo artist you have in mind to do the tattoo and tell him/her what you are looking for. They specialize in drawing up the tattoo. I think you're awesome for doing that. I am sorry you lost a friend. If it were me, I would have like an angel tattoo with the friend's name in it or around it and underneath the angel I would put Never forgotten. Good luck my dear. I hope you get the tattoo you are looking for.

to do the memorial tattoo justice i would skip the wrist and go for somewhere bigger. i got a memorial tattoo on top of my foot. i know that if i had gotten it on my wrist it would not have looked as good or had as much detail. so the foot is an idea that you could go with. if i were going to get a military memorial tattoo i would get some dog tags. like with the beads wrapped around my ankle and the dog tags facing up with words like get his exact dogtags "jeremy last name" and all that. and on the second one (there are usually two right?) that is on the bottom it could say "in memory of all the brave men and women" or just "never forgotten" good luck! sorry about your loss.

Tribal - Celtic ? Are you Indian or Irish or Scott? If so, ok... think of a way to use these designs. Definitely, Stick with what he means to you. You gave him a name, Tattoo his name and date over your heart. Use his footprint if you want but don't do too much. Keep the tat simple and clean - your memorial to him, your beloved son. I am sorry for your loss. Best wishes for a happy family.

I would think of something that means memorial and pays tribute in your eyes. Could be anything...something that personally reminds you of your friend and of the loss of men and women. Doesn't have to be a ribbon or say something about how a person is gone now, could even be anything...because it's for YOU, not for other people, so it's how YOU want to pay tribute to your friend. Alot of these ideas are nice but if you are looking for something just for your wrist, it's going to have to be something quite small.

It may seem cliche, but what about a yellow ribbon with your friend's initials in it and a small banner underneath that says "never forget" or "not forgotten" or something like that..."never forgotten" sounds a little weird to me, but that's just my opinion.
